Default Window

Good afternoon , lady’s & Gents !

Heres the problem That I’d appreciate some speedy guidance resolving right this moment ...

So I get near the flood waters to help and can’t roll up my window !

First it statered making some ‘scratchy sound , then clicking sound , then started getting stuck when I’ve been pulling it up by hand , and it seems like I’ve pulled too much last night cause it’s not going up and making all kinds of sounds when I press the window button

What would be the steps of resolving such a problem ?

Thanks in advance

Replace the window regulator as it's broken.

It's also helpful to know the vehicle details such as MY, engine, etc.

Ditto.

For future reference.... don't force a window to go up / down. Instead take the door panel off and try to find why its not working. Every once in a while a guy can get lucky and find something simple that's causing the problem. At the very least you can move the glass to the up position and then duct tape it until you can get replacement parts.
Forcing glass to move almost NEVER solves the problem.

Here is a "how to" video on the removal of the door panel:

Default It’s a little white PLASTIC bracket holding the window on the right that’s broke ...

Thanks for letting us know... Was this discovered after we posted all of the above, or before?

Most owners replace the entire assembly, as that is how the piece is sold. With minor modifications a Lincoln LS unit of the same vintage can be substituted at a reduced cost over the original Jaguar part. There are supposedly individual parts for the window lift assembly available on "the bay," but these parts are from China and have met with mixed reviews. Your choice.

Add the vehicle information to your signature or put it in the body of the post. Depending on the MY or VIN, the window regulators are different.

You'll find a helpful guide in the S Type section "How To" area, ask me how I know.
