Default Window Regulator

The front right window regulator has stopped working on my 2002 S Type. Have any of you replaced these with the regulators they sell on the internet? They run around $70, but I'm worried about the quality. Anyone have any feedback on these? Thanks

You can use the Lincoln LS regulator on your car, they are usually much cheaper the Jaguar part.

Yes, I figured that. Parts Geek looks like they sell the OEM regulator for $178, the Jag dealer charges $217 for the part. In either case I have to re-use the motor. Thanks

Rockauto is much cheaper, or Amazon.

If you use the Ford part designed for the Lincoln LS, one of mounting holes on the door inner surface needs to be elongated for the regulator to fit correctly.

Thanks guys, I will go with the OEM part for $178, I don't want to take the chance on a cheap part. I used an aftermarket regulator on a Honda once, lasted a couple of months. I called the Jag dealer, they want $475 for the whole job. I'll suffer the scraped knuckles for $300.

I would never pay 178 for regulator. I would get it from junk yard for $20.
I just bought one for my Mercedes.
I guess, you are a rich guy.
Don't forget to pay dealer $300 for installation, so job is done "right".
BTW, dealers buy parts from local part stores all the time.
Did you check regulator? Maybe it just needs plastic clip.

I'd pass on the junkyard as it's age that finishes these off, but $50 on the interweb would work for me.

What usually breaks on the window regulator assembly is the track support, which is made from plastic.

Due to the amount of labour involved with removing the regulator, it is best to replace it with a new one since the plastic parts fail with age.

Be sure to have the window glass in the track and see that it moves freely up and down prior to attaching the regulator to the bottom edge. If the glass binds, it is possible to break the glass or the new regulator. Silicone spray in the track helps if you have difficulty getting the glass to move freely.

Thanks guys, regulator came in. Now I just have to find time to do the job, along with new front pads & rotors (EBC Red) and repair of the rear view mirror (the outfit in MI that fixes them for $100).

Another vote for new only!!

The regulators are a known weak spot. Used parts here are a false economy.

Default 1998 XJ8 Drivers (RH Drive)Window Module

Hope someone can help.
I had a new drivers door (RH drive UK) latch cable installed by my garage so I can open the door from inside the car.

Apart from the ridiculous cost of a new cable, the window does not work from the electric switch on the switch panel.
I can hear a click but the window does not go up or down.
All the other windows work.

Can somebody enlighten me to what may be the problem.
I think it too much of a coincidence that the module is faulty.
I have heard that the system may need resetting?
Is this by disconnecting the lead from the negative battery post for a few minutes and then reconnecting?

Hope you can help or if it is not the module I suspect the window motor itself, but also find all this to much of a coincidence when just having anew cable installed for the inside door latch to work.

Regards-Richard

sounds like the motor - take it back to the shop to have it checked over

If your window stopped working after cable replacement, go to back to repair shop and tell them.
