Default Wrench flats on dampers

Does anyone else have wrench flats on their dampers on their S-Type? I have an 05' Non-Sport and I have them, which to me says adjustable. Am I just crazy? Only ever had flats on adjustable dampers.

I don't have a picture but I can get some later.

p.s. I'm talking about in the engine bay where they bolt to the body.

A flat surface beneath the fastener head that facilitates tightening with a wrench? I am a bit confused...

Many dampers / struts have slots and a hex shape just in case the shaft spins while taking off the lock nut. I assume that is what you are talking about...

There are flats for a wrench, the way I'd see in an adjustable damper to adjust the softness or hardness of the rebound.

Nope, those are usually to hold the shaft of the shock in place while you tighten the nut that holds the spring top on.
