Default X Pipe in S-type R exhaust system

Can anyone please explain to me what the benefit/affect is of having a X-pipe in the exhaust, apart from more noise. Do you need to replace the central resonator with it, or can it be used as well ?

I have spent a long time reading threads on here and elsewhere, trying to find an answer. Sorry if I've managed to miss it somewhere however, I'd really like to know.

Many thanks in advance.

x pipe data is not specific to jaguar . x-pipes help scavenge gas. and balance the pulses .
you could look for information on say for instance mustang forums , were mods are far more common than the jaguar forum .

have a look here all the same . i think this is what your looking for .

Thanks for that. I have since found info on this subject & more is welcome. As I was researching for my S-Type R, I made the initial mistake of limiting my searches to Jag forums.
The main thrust of my question was, is it worth it on my modded car ?Robin.
