What does "Valet" switch do?

Default What does "Valet" switch do?

Hi Guys,

Can anyopne shed some light on what the "Valet" switch does? As I am sure most of you know, its located under the arm rest.

It controls the locks so that the valet can open the driver's door and use the ignition. It keeps them out of the trunk, glove compartment, and fuel filler cap.

Assuming the valet switch is operating correctly, it prohibits the luggage compartment being opened via the dashboard switch. Opening of the luggage area is then only possible with the key or remote.

I see, so the Valet would get a key only (ie: valet key) ... otherwise if I give him the key with the remote - the "Valet" switch is useless, correct? Sorry, this might be a silly question ;-)

I know this is an old thread, but I have a new switch and I need to know who to get the old one out. I have the one that is in the back of the center/arm rest box.

Help?
