I have a Jaguar XJ6 X300 4.0 on a P reg 1997. When you stop you can smell petrol inside the car and outside. I have looked under the bonnet and cannot see any leaks. Have also had it on a ramp and checked underneath and cannot see any leaks. I did suspect maybe the petrol cap as it seems loose. But was not sure if this could cause this to happen ?. I have ordered a new petrol cap Im waiting for it to arrive. It also seems to be doing really bad on fuel. It says on the trip computer its doing about 12 mpg. But can vary Its doing less than 200 miles to a full tank of fuel. Any advice on what to do regarding these problems would be greatly appreciated ?.
