New proud owner
Just got this 02 XJR. Dream come true. But got a question, where can I find the engine serial no. I swear I searched and searched but there is no definite answer out in this forums. Because I want to know my Jag still has the plastic tensioner, the car was built in August 2001, but I know engine was built on a different date. Can someone help me out if I need to replace the tensioner to metal? Thanks.

Nice looking ride maniqz, congrats, now it needs a good bath and some Maguires polish and wax.
I am 99% sure you'll have to replace them. Easiest way to see is to simply remove a valve cover and the secondary's sit between the cam gears.
As for your numbers, check this thread link and post #3...https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ocation-37557/

I like everything about this car. Front, rear, side and the stance is so low it's like a cat that's about to attack. Dream come true, always wanted one but people around me kept saying no don't buy one. Then I come upon this forum and learned more about Jaguars that really changed my mind.
I am very excited for you! I have had my XJR almost a month now, it's such a blast to drive. The drive to and from work every day is something I look forward to!
Work itself on the other hand.... haha

Yeah, but that Jag takes away those work blues doesn't it?
