While I loved the wood on my X351 XJ and my Old S-type. I didn't like it so much in my coupe. I was in the fence about it...because after all a Jag is the only car that can ALWAYs get away with wood and look incredible.


I did brushed titanium Avery 9000 and Avery Gloss Black. It took a couple of hours and a heat gun. Looks like a different car. I really like it! (I need to clean up the gloss black on the window control panel). (Thoughts on how to freshen up the handle cover????? Jag doesn't sell that separate? Wrap it in Suede?


I saw the Spun option from the 09 Portfolio..and Metrorestyling. Dot com


has something close..but I'll leave that for a Bentley (great looking pattern BTW).


It freshened up my (almost) 10 year old car.

I also attached a pic of a 2014 $80k legit XK (Black)... I got pretty close on guessing.




I ordered the perf mocha headliner to go in. MY 07 W/ 60k headliner is drooping like a 92 Pontiac Bonneville . I was hesitant to go perf vs. a standard suede ..but at $600 to do our complex (coupe) headliner and ABC pillars..It has to be done. Should freshen it up. I'll post pics when it's done. (stop me now if I should go with a perforated headliner...I just put a small deposit on material). I just thought it would be different. The guy that is doing it is the best in the area. (Tampa)

Yep. I wrapped it. The new wrap's are almost idiot proof. Gloss Black in the middle and brushed titanium on the sides.

I personally prefer the wood because it is visually very pretty to look at. The wrap leaves me cold. But you have to do what makes you happy.

 

I think what you've done makes your interior match a lot better. The dark wood wasn't quite right before the light seats and gray. Looks sharp.

I'm not partial to the stock shift knob, I quicky got one from British Autowood asap. For yours, perhaps a knurled metal.

 

It looks good to me. I would quite like Piano Black trim in my '07 XKR.

Apart from my first XJS where wood wasn't an option, all of my previous Jags have had wood of one sort or another. The XK was the first one I bought that I didn't think it suited so intentionally discounted any with wood that I found for sale.

Who in Tampa is doing it? You could also do perforated leather, 2 tone to match your interior. If you need extra pillar covers, headliner or sun visors, I have a complete set from my car also in Tampa.

 

The interior looks great with the change. The wood trim made the interior look smaller when you compare photo #1 to photo #2.

I really like the look of my Spun Aluminium dash and trim in my 2009 Portfolio Edition and would not change it. Yes, the XK/XKR is a Jaguar but more of a sportier (GT) Jaguar.

The wood interior seems appropriate for the sedan models and larger 4 passenger models.

 

That does look really good, a nice change as the wood grain to me looks a bit old fashioned and dated.

I am not a big wood fan by any means, but on my 2012 I think the wood grain is well executed and matches the interior splendidly. The fact that this year already has the piano black gloss middle helps to mute the overall affect as I am not loaded with a heavy wood presence.

Question - will not sway me from preferring my interior as-is so you can be as honest as you wish - if your interior had this combination would you change it to the metal look?

 

Just my opinion, I feel the aluminum goes better with a charcoal, grey or black interior. The wood compliments the beige, tan and caramel interiors. Like I said, just my opinion. Couldn't imagine an aluminum trim with my caramel interior....







Now if my interior was black or charcoal....

Tampamark, I love the way your interior looks. I dont know who made 'dated' a bad word. A Ferrari GTO is dated, as is your whole car as it lacks the sharp boxy lines of this years passing fancy- and common in the 80s.

What you can do if you just want to take a break from wood. You can put a dark tint wrap on it. It will give you the gloss that gloss black wrap wont (which just look like a cheap sticker- which it is)

I agree with you as the interior color with the wood is a great combo. Black are charcoal is a different story. Ideal to me would be BRG with London Tan and burl. in an XK.

 

So we all agree for the most part, the OP wrapping the grey interior with the brushed aluminum and black wrap fits his color very well. I couldn't imagine changing my wood trim out, it has a quality feel.

With the wrap material as good as it is now it looks great and is fairly easy to DIY. Change it up if it doesn't look that great.

 

S-Typer, how hard/easy was it to remove the trim in preparation of the wrap. Especially above the glove box where the air bag is located? Thanks.

 

I had the same interior on my 08 and almost did the interior wrap treatment in piano black. I often though maybe a gloss cream would look really cool (and unique) there to match the seats as well.

I agree with others that have noted the trim looks great with the darker interiors. Mine is caramel and I do like the way it looks with the wood grains. Personal preference.

 

To each his own. I must be old fashioned but I love the traditional wood veneer. That's one of the principal reasons I don't fancy the F type.

 

Me Too!! I would have bought the F-type if I could get it my color combination.

Its not old fashioned- I can get it in every other supercar, Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, just not Jaguar that is synonymous with it- wierd. Looks like someone is trying too desperately to change their image

 

Well, I am the one who called the OP's wood dated, I wasn't saying wood in general, just that I wasn't a big fan of that particular grain/pattern. Especially matched with the grey. That grain reminds me of my grandmothers old antiques, nice for her house but I wouldn't have it in my decor. I feel the same for a car.

I very much like the wood trim in my car as I like the grain, color, and match to my cream upholstery.
