OK, decided my 2010 XFR would look nice(r) with the rear diffuser upgrade and Mina say they are reworking their design, so I decided to look at the YouTube version where the 2012 Jag parts are fitted to the 2010 by adding new slots in the rear bumper.
Was pleasantly surprised to find on parts.com that the lower valence and the insert came out at around $280 with shipping. I was concerned they might be OEM pattern but got a call from Jaguar San Juan parts manager to allay my fears - apparently they service the orders for Jaguar and Land Rover on that site. So three days after the order, Fedex showed up with my parts and they are totally kosher :-)
The diffuser insert is ready to fit glossy black.
The upper valance is primer so having to get that painted Liquid Silver - which has been interesting as many of the paint and body shops local to me only want to play the "collision" game and aren't interested in painting body parts like this. Fortunately I found a referral to a place that not only puts Bentley, Jaguars and Astons back together, they also will paint only, after looking at the car and checking the paint code and VIN. The estimate was a little higher but I saved on the parts and their reputation is excellent. I know it's only a lower valence but if the paint peeled off due to a shitty paint job I'd be just as pissed.
Should have the part back in a few days and then on to the fitting...more updates to follow but looking forward to seeing the finished result...
ok to be clear... are you saying that you bought an aftermarket diffuser like a 2012 version that's a direct bolt on for a 2010 car? and its painted?
Both parts are genuine Jaguar parts. The lower valence on the 2012 model is two part as opposed to single part on my 2010. The insert part (the actual diffuser) is ready to fit no paint needed....I guess that is why it's twice the cost of the bigger part. As to direct bolt on, well, it is once you add some "missing" slots. Jaguar changed the location in the later model year - here's the YouTube link:
And here it is completed - not quite as easy as the YouTube video would have you believe as my shop wasn't happy with the solidity of the fit so they took the bumper off to make sure the fingers were firmly located in the new and existing slots. A little extra work but less embarrassing than losing it down the road....and at the end of the day genuine Jaguar parts...
