Sadly as Texas does not seem to want to provide ethanol free pumps (I guess even JR Ewing is open to bribes er sorry incentives) I did actually run a can of BG44K through when I got my XFR in January. I'll add it to my list of regular operations...it is so frustrating having this crap foisted on us.

Maybe you should start throwing a can of BG-44K in every 5000 miles from now on or stick with a top tier gasoline brand like Shell..Ask them at the dealer obout 44K..I'd like to hear what they say about it...My dealer recommends it religiously and saves a lot of future injector issues. as I'm told by 20 year experienced techs.
Sorry! In my original post I stated I don't know a lot about mechanics so I don't know the difference of injectors and a head assembly. Really!

I will find more information today when they finish her up (hopefully). I will ask about ethanol and 44K and report back. I will also share the final diagnosis, and all the repairs and costs.

So, here's the final bill. The injectors on the 1 side was all they needed to do (well, maybe). They even gave me a free can of 44K !!!

BUT...I start it up at the dealer and the check engine light is on. They said they test drove it 3 times and no codes or lights. Tomorrow I get my Mina exhaust and pulley and Friday - back to jaguar dealer assuming check engine light doesn't just go away - which dealer thinks it's might (I doubt it).

Glad you're back on the road Mark - looks like the rub is that injectors only come in packs of four :-( So if you're unlucky enough to have one fail on each side, that’s the entire set replaced....I suspect that outside of a dealership it would be possible to source and replace the injector on a piecemeal basis but that's largely the problem with the franchise workshop now, fitters rather than mechanics...but hey, you got a free can of 44K ;-)

I asked the question and he said if 1 goes on the other side I am in for the full $1144.

I just drove it to my foreign car guy for the Mina installs and no check engine light hmmmmm.....

Good to hear you're up and running again..computer just had to get happy again with new readings and all.

Like I said, use the BG-44K every 5000 miles on a full tank and run it til almost empty, before refueling...Using it more often than that can harm the cats

Looking at the invoice the injectors are listed as a "kit", so I suspect they are a matched set and replacing individual injectors could cause problems.
Either that or it's a typical modern auto repair boondoggle, designed to extract extra $ from the customer for unnecessary parts!

Mark..I see you're a man with lots of (NICE) toys, not to mention cars..I'm not being nosey or envious (well maybe a little) but why so many cars?

Jeep I can see for shitty weather, Benz is as awesome as the Jag (tough choice)..But the Bimmer is a kid's car and the rest are for soccer moms..whad-up?

OK, full disclosure - the cars all mine technically (registered to me & insurance by me), paid in full (including XFR!), but I have 3 adult kids.

Jeep - son Tyler 19
Roque - daughter Hayley 22
BMW- daughter Jessica 25

The rest are mine

So..... dropped XFR off for exhaust and pulley and they tell me I have a leaking expansion tank hose! $30 part but won't be here until Monday and they said do NOT drive it before then so I'll have it back Monday. BUT...I'll be on a cruise to Bermuda

I may never drive this car again.

This is my 2nd Jaguar and the XFR is the funnest car I have ever owned. It is also in the shop more than any car I have ever owned. A lot od stupid stuff, some more serious stuff - but when all added up together; Japan would never produce a piece of crap like this!

If it makes you feel any better Mark, my Audi S4 was also guilty of lots of stupid stuff and one or more serious crap. The plastic guides in the timing chain failing at 75K was what finally made me walk away from the Audi brand after 20 odd years. After six months in the Jag I don't miss the four rings at all....

I am quick to forgive. I get aggravated with the bad news, more aggravated when I pay - and then while I am driving home from the shop I am in love again.

Reminds me of some women....

Did you get to keep the "bad" injectors?

I would love to send a few to Cruzin Performance to see if he can clean and test them.

I wonder if they are just clogged or if the solenoids are shorted out.

I have used them in that past for great results on E10 and E85 turbo cars.

Last time I talked to them, they were getting the equipment to test the direct injected injectors.

I never thought to ask for them and by now likely gone. In the past, some shops I've dealt with automatically give you the old parts to show integrity. Wish I thought of it but really just more work and $.

In the scheme of things, $1800 isn't an awful repair at 70,000 miles for a car like this but I have had other issues so the aggregation is annoying. I mean, we all buy tires for almost this much without even mentioning it.

Sounds like a bad fuel injector, the same thing happened to me but I had mine towed home from Bakersfield to Santa Monica. Thanks to AAA and warrentry.

I just got back from vacation today and waiting in my driveway was my XFR with the new Mina Gallery exhaust and pulley.

After I had the injectors repaired at the dealer I literally took it right to my foreign car guy for what was supposed to be couple hours to install the Mina parts. BUT, they found a leaking expansion tank hose, it was Thursday and they couldn't get a new one until Monday. I was leaving for Bermuda the day prior so they had the car for the week.

WOW! I love the way it sounds, especially while accelerating. I didn't have them run tests and Mina estimates 40 HP+ for the 2 pieces - who knows all I know is I love it!! Feels strong, but could be the sound that's tricking me...or it's really noticeably more responsive.

Yeah, I know. I'm not sure I am going to go there though.

The changing of the exhaust just makes the experience so much more fun for me. The tones are beautiful
