So I had a seized caliper and the garage I use that always look after have a place they use to refurb them. Compared with the cost of a new one the price was much better. £176 for replacement of moving parts, or a complete strip down and repaint which I didn't get the price for as they wouldn't be able to replace the decal and the calipers were in great condition. I checked before they were sent off and double checked no damage would occur to the face of the caliper as they can be seen through the alloys. Confirmation came back from my garage all was promised to be ok.
This is how it is now:
As you can see they needed to use heat to remove the old parts resulting in blistering and discolouring the silver.
Now so far my garage have rung the company and said I'm far from happy and they have reduced the price from £176 to £120 for good will.
I'm not sure how far to push at this stage, I'm going to try some t-cut to see if I can bring the colour back.
Failing that I could push for more money off or send them back, problem with that being not only will I be without my car for a further 2 weeks I'll have to pay the garage to remove and replace them again, also if they do agree to re-painting them, it'll probably be the wrong shade of silver and they won't replace the Jaguar R decal.
Really not happy tbh, I enjoyed the lovely condition the caliper was the other side of my perfect alloys.
Ouch! Sorry to see...
Ask them to send them to be professionally repainted at their cost.
Otherwise, I would repaint them myself, try and get as much discount as you can.
