double membership
as requested, i am introing myself to the forum.
the reason for joining a second time is because my original e-mail address has changed, my password didn't work, the replacement password you sent me didn't work and the replacement password link didn't work either.
some of the above i would contribute to using a very old computer and a very slow internet speed, when i go to this site i have to refresh the page once or twice just to get it to load.
but here i am in all my glory for your amusement and perhaps ridicule, i was once described as a know all b'stard who is always right.
so a little about myself,
i am a retired technician of sorts, conversant with most fields of engineering of an automotive ilke.
i am English, living in "northern arizona", the omission of capitals is intentional as i don't think that it is yet worthy of them.
my most recent claim to fame is designing and building a car from scratch, it can be viewed on the "locostusa" site listed under my name.
if you need to know something, i probably have an answer for you, i specialize in re-engineering things that were done poorly from the outset.
i am at the present restoring two xk8's a 96 and a 99, although the 99 is all done bar the shouting having re-done the ball joints, the trans fluid, the upholstery and the paint, checked that the timing chain tensioners were made of metal and not plastic, fitted new rear tires and re-cut the rotors, installed a new center brake light and a cup holder.
i have had the car almost two months now, having purchased it from the previous owner in Los Angeles.
the other is a 96 although it sat around for almost a year before it was registered, i have replaced the front ball joints, the control arm bushes and front springs, center brake light and cup holder, i purchased this car in middle February.
it still requires a passenger door and some body and paint, all of which is well in hand as i write.
from what i have done, in the short time i have had the cars, you can tell that i have a lot of expertise and facilities at my disposal in my 1700 square foot home shop.

Welcome to the forum John,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I know you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Southwest Region forum by following this link US Southwest - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
