Default Can wheels off a 89 XJS go on an 87 XJ6?

I'll be upgrading soon to 17x8 wheels on the XJS but I much prefer the look of the stock XJS rims over the stock XJ6 rims. So I'd like to move the XJS rims to my XJ6. Can it be done?

Picture reference...

On this car...?

They'll fit, yes, and the lattice wheels look great on a Series III IMHO

Cheers

i have later model wheels from the xj40 that came with my 1987 xj6. (the saddest thing I found when cleaning out the trunk was a small cardboard box with extra lug nuts from dayton wheel)

The bolt pattern is the same, but I've been told the offset is different. I tend to believe this, because the center growler on the front wheels is missing, and it looks like it would be impossible to put them on even if i had them.

Bryan:

A whole different story!! Lnrb's posts describe the problem and the fix.

Issue, the wheels come off under stress!

The fix. Proper center spacers and longer studs.

The 2 main problems that i have been told about & also encountered with wheels for the xj6 is yes, the offset & also the protrusion of the front hub that won't allow the centre caps to go on with later wheels. Yes the stud pattern is the same as is the centre bore but that bloody front hub is the main problem.
