Default xkrs vulcan wheel finish

My car has the XKR-S vulcan wheels.

They are awesome like them a lot, but have some curb rash.

They appear to be polished, but also appear to have a coating on them.

I was thinking about repolishing the areas, just not sure about the coating on them.

I would appreciate any info you have. Did a search, not much came up.

It's probably a clear coat to protect the polished finished.

I was thinking the same at first, but where it scratched through it appears to have a bright coating.

Similar to the vapor deposition coatings. Might be what it is.

It's a clear coat and if the water get in under it, it moves through the surface and stains the coating.

That really surprises me (why I asked the question).

Not that I know at all, but sure seems to be a thin plating over the polished surface.

Ill try and get a pic of where the scratches are .
