Bugatti mechanic since over 35 years. I make new engines, gearboxes ,axles etc etc. Starting from wooden patterns for casting in various metals.Then machining and assembling complete components. I am currently making a replica Type 251 mid engined transverse straight eight with five speed gearbox. You simply cannot imagine the frustration I feel at being totally unable to deal with what should be a simple problem.

There is an access port in the boot behind the spare wheel. Although I would drop the rear cage enough to gain access should only need 6-8".

But before this I would check the connectors, these are in the boot on the LHS.

Thank you Greg ,That is very kind. However the 3rd person to see my car bought it yesterday and so my problem has gone away. I regret selling the car especially with a problem that I should have been able to cure. I hope he has more luck than I did.I had a new XJS convertible back in 1990 and bought this one in California with only 33.000 miles and one owner. He has a bargain. It is a lot of car for the money. If you are ever in my part of france please feel free to pop in and see the workshop and Bugattis.
