I just wanted to say, if you have a screwdriver; fixing the lcd clock is the easiest repair ever.
I've seen people shipping it off for repair,paying a lot to have it fixed, but jag-lovers wrote something about taping it down with a card or similar. Sounded strange but I decided to try. It's easy to open and the whole thing is just loosely connected. I added a drop of superglue to the frame, pressed it down for 10 seconds and it's fixed..

I also decided to change the stereo.
I bought an iso/ facia kit on ebay and it fits perfectly. The old speakers were blown so I changed the 4 of them. Went for 13cm ( 5.25") and they fit more or less perfect. Could have fitted 17cm as well I think without problems. Had to drill a couple of new holes anyway.

Headlamp level switch, to compensate for different loads in the vehicle.

 

I need to replace my radio and speakers. Can you please post a link to the Facia and stereo models. How did you handle the telescopic antenna? Does it still work or not. Thanks a bunch.

 

Telescope antenne works just fine. Just connect the ISO and ground to the new stereo and everything is all set.

And because Norway is now closing down the FM/AM radio for good (!!) I had to buy a DAB radio from Pioneer. This is the unit : MVH-X580DAB | Pioneer

Ah, we don't get that over here, the more you put in the trunk the higher the headlights go :-)

 

How did you remove the clock module?
and what exactly did you glue? the lcd screen to the black plastic front?

 

You have to take out the whole stereo unit. Removing the wooden panels etc is known as the "ski slope" and it's a very easy process well described by others here. On the backside of the unit it's just a couple of screws to get to the actual lcd and it's card/board. After the screws are removed i used a thin blade to open it further and then you wiggle out the unit. The lcd unit sits on top of a electronic board. The connection to the board was the problem on my unit. It was just loose on one side, causing the lcd screen to go blank. Pressing it down on one of the sides towards the board solved the problem so I added a drop of glue on the chassis while pressing it down a bit.

I'm sorry for the rather poor explanation. I should have documented it with photos while doing it. It's hard to explain, but it's a very easy repair.
After I had opened up everything I turned on the ignition to easier see if any kind of movement would improve the lcd display and I saw right away that it was just a lose connection to the board attachment.
