Default Alternative temp gauge

Has anyone replaced the "idiot" temperature gauge with an accurate one?

Or is the coolant sensor also complicit in the "idiocy" function?

Default idiot gauge

Try checking out this on the XK8 forum as this problem was solved by a member who sold the required parts, and there is a walk through of the fitting on the XK8 this also include the idiot oil pressure gauge. Why Jaguar put utterly useless gauges into one of their cars is unbelievable. This is a real problem as you can have an overheating car way before the gauge reacts, really stupid. I uprated my gauges and sensors on my old XK8 so that actually showed what the engine was doing. Cheers Keith

An ELM 372 device is less than $20, and all you need is a smartphone or pad.

Nearly every new car for the last few decades is that way. Non-car people don't want to see their gauges fluctuate. Maybe it even saves a few pennies per car, I don't know.

I do not want to tie up the ODBII port nor do I want an app on my smartphone. I do not run any apps on my smartphone for some very good reasons.
I have a laptop dedicated to JLR SDD use for diagnostics.

I get it. I use ELM372 and display it on my AVIC in the center of my dash. I know that not everyone can do that...

Now if I could get something that received the ELM Bluetooth signals and gave RGB output I could use one of the RGB inputs on my Navtool.
Right now I have a DVD player and my rear view camera hooked up to display on my Jaguar Nav screen.

Ive seen threads on guys with x308s changing them out for a kit that displays an accurate reading, but the thread is a year old and i never saw anything about it being installed on the x350s. I would like to switch out the gauge as well.

I am going to have a go. Have ordered the temp kit.

I now have 4 projects planned, including the temp gauge kit, for my XJR

Sorry, RealGauge is not compatible with the X358 XJ. It only works with the X100 (XK8/R) or the X308 XJ models.

When I made the selection it stated that my 2005 XJR was compatible.

Bum steer on the realgauge, apologies. A shame we can't get it for the XJ as it is a neat bit of kit. Have you considered something like this?

I have ordered an ELM 327 as well as an OBDII splitter.

I will research using my Navtool installation to get the display on my Jaguar head display. I need a Bluetooth Android platform with video output and of course the correct application running.

I may be wasting my time but will give it a shot.

Get a Raspberry Pi and use RTAndroid.
