But things happen as well, after 440.000 km I had to change my steering rack, just after the 100.000km factory warranty, tough luck I guess ;-).

Why only '98 to '03 cars? Why not all the X100s, or just the 4.0Ls?

 

"And Tberg should be over 200K by now." I'm still down around 160K since getting the 2010 XKR coupe's purpose was to prolongue the life of the 2002. So most days I use the coupe with a couple of days reserved for the convertible. 600hp with paddle shifters and a tight suspension are quite addicting. However, I still think my 2002 is a more beautiful body!

 

I just wanted to narrow it down a bit to the engine and drivetrain that was most similar to my car. Now that I have (almost) everything freshened up and approaching 100,000 miles on original engine and transmission and it all seems to be functioning well was hoping to continue to 200,000 miles with careful maintenance and hoping that was a reasonable expectation. Granted, the "winner" is not exactly a stock vehicle (to say the least), but still impressive nonetheless.


Perhaps start another thread though, that would be great to have a broader sampling. Feel free to paste in my summary to start it off.

 

106k on my '98 coupe XK8.

I've got a clunk in the front-end somewhere that I need to sort, intermittent ( water related ) ABS sensor problems that are on my todo list, and it's developed a leak into the cabin on the passenger door that I need to sort soon.

Other than that, it's great. Especially with petrol back down to £1/litre.

 

89K mi on my 2003. I've only had it since Sept, I think I've put 2K on it. Daily driver but I don't have to drive every day - I am fortunate and can work from home most days.

I just picked up my 2003 Blue Convertible with 45K on it. It basically has been sitting since 2009 due to a divorce settlement...only 5k miles in that time. Just got all the fluids changed and looking forward to sorting it out. The worst thing is the 20" rims the idiot has on it.

 

Purchased 2 years ago with 50K, now 55k. Engine had been replaced by a prior owner which has 20k. Transmission is next.

 

Hey Reb. Before you head for new tranny territory, just change the fluid & filter (again). I know we have different boxes, but properly servicing mine made a HUGE difference.

 

Hi Jim, yes, I am sure another transmission fluid change would help for a little while.
Did have the fluid/ filter changed a couple months ago which did make a huge difference for about a month. I'm still trying to decide what to do. I hear the best is to do an overhaul on your current unit with a new updated valve body as with the ZF trans, I understand is the big problem. Thanks Rich

 

Hello, mine currently has 42650 km.It is a 2000 XKR convertible.
So far only it has been made routine maintenance every 2 years as per mileage never get to review.

 

This year 2016, I replaced the power steering pump, the fuel pump and the sending unit. Now have about 64,000 miles on the car.

 

Just bought it 3 months ago and as daily driver have put 3K miles on Heat Wave (It's cinnamon red and Grandson likes Transformers Rescue Bots)

Previous owner said he replaced the timing tensioners and a few other preventative fixes. I just had to rebuild the tranny cause it blew some ring clip off a drum of some sort. I paid a bit too much for the car but it was in beautiful shape. Now $4,000 later it's still a beautiful car, just not such a great deal.

Every time I go out someone pays it/me a compliment. The last one was two guys in their late 50s walked by before I got out and I heard one say "That's a beautiful car. If I ever win the lottery, I'm gonna buy one just like that!"

How can you put a price on that?

 

Car now has about 64000 miles on it. Recently replaced fuel pump and sending unit. Hope this will appease Jaguar God for another year or two before another chunk of money is demanded as a sacrificial offering!
