I have 103k on my 2000XKR. I bought it last September with about 101K on her and had the tensioners changed (complete job, upper, lower, guides, etc.) Also had the water pump done at the same time. I am pretty sure that a wheel bearing was failing at the end of the season since I was hearing a grinding noise coming from the rear driver side (at least that what it sounded like to me).

Car is sleeping now and I cannot wait for spring to get her back out. Not my daily driver but I expect I will put about 5k on her a year depending on weather.

Looks like the PO drove 15k miles between June 12 and June 21 (one year) which is reasonable.

It does show over 100k for multiple entries, so there's your answer.

Yeah of course. I spoke to my mechanic today and he said hoses all checked and looked ok.

No to be a pain but it is pretty hard to check the valley hoses and I wonder if he knows of the octopus hose and associated parts it connects too. Just saying cause these hoses in all of are cars are old now and if you read threads here you will see many where folks, including me, are running into issues with one or many hoses.

Well - he had the car for a week. He designs Jag XKR (and others) re-builds etc from the ground up, so I suspect he knows his stuff. He knew my car from the guy I bought it off. But like you say, failures can happen. I'll deal with it as and when, like we all do I guess. Thanks though!

My 2001 XKR is relatively low mileage compared to others on here. 97000km/60000miles. Haven't owned it for that long, so I'm just following the advice of my mechanic who did the pre-purchase inspection and replacing the sway bar bushings (front & rear) and end links, changing the fluids plus I had to have the A/C recharged.

My car has the second generation plastic secondary tensioners and I am replacing them with metal. I figure I'll sleep better at night.

It sure is a fun car!

Mine is at 197000km / 122410miles, original engine and tranny.

I currently rebuild the suspension and remove some rust (front behind the subframe)

Cheers
Chris

2004 XK8 Convertible - 173,000 km. No serious issues, daily driver May - October. Just recieved the new a new aluminum thermostat housing which I am going to replace proactively. Also planning on removing and refurbishing the rear end while I am still young enough to get under there, and because it is a 12 year old car and is probably due for some new shocks, bushing and rust removal.

I thought the alum tstat housing was NOT avail after 2002? I never found one for my 03.
Why do some of you PARK your cars in the winter. Sure there is snow for some but it is not on the roads 24/7 and time to time there is rain to wash salt off roads.

Default Off road for the winter?

I put my car away for the winter just because over the years the toy cars I have done that with have never rusted out on me, like my everyday drivers. Yes it washes off the surfaces you can see but not off places you can't. Here in South Western Ontario the roads are white with salt, and as soon as the rain washes it off, they put more down. I really don't want what I consider my toy car looking like a salt truck. My daily driver which I still try and keep clean is a 2004 X-type and it has rust problems the XK8 does not. As well I just don't see snow tires on the convertible.

I think the winter in Ontario might be a wee bit worse than around Cincinnati. ;-)

Just pulling your chain, Brg. I'm on the exact same page as you. I just drove kitty through a little snow to work this morning. Turned off the DSC and had some fun!!!

I found the aluminum T-Housing on Ebay, $42.00 US or $100 Canadian :-).
I am not home so don't have the URL here at work.

Thanks 64V. I find it hard to believe I have the high score so far. I must believe that there are many (at least several?) people that have enjoyed their cars passed the 200K mark. Aren't there?!

Good thread, Sklimii. Avos is amazing. Truly an inspiration. And Tberg should be over 200K miles by now too.

2002 xkr 55,000 miles, it's good to see there is some longevity to owners and as most in the forum work on them themselves and take pride in their cars they should all last a long time and keep the XK heritage going!

ps, Mine is up on stands every winter (last 3) getting a good rest and always some new parts, there are many days i could have driven especially this winter in the NEast but I find working on it at a leisurely pace satisfying
