Post S-Type Fuel Pump replacement for $10 with DIY video

My 2003 S-Type 3.0 V6 stalled and left me stranded a few weeks ago. Found blown fuse F47 pointing at a fuel pump going south. All online parts sites list fuel pumps and ridiculous prices ($500-$800) so I started to dig and found a way to replace the fuel pump for $10 out the door! New $10 fuel pump looks and feels just like the original. This definitely works on 2003-2005 model years but most likely the actual electric fuel pump is the same on all years 1999-2008 .

Been running for a week, no problems, no stalling, no blown fuse!

I made a short video with DIY instructions. Also explains what part to buy.

They may delete the vid so any chance you could post the part # etc as a message?

Search for fuel pump E2226 on ebay and sort by price. I bought the silver pump. Not sure if the black is the same, pictures were unclear but the silver one works great. Paid $9.97.

Anybody try this on a 4.0 L V8 2001 S type? What were the results? Did it fit...?

ULTRAP 13.Not long ago I posted a Spectra Pump 2080M($138 Amazon) that I used on my 2003 Stype 3.0l.You can read my thread ,I was bragging about having saved hundreds of dollars and then I saw your post and video(couple of weeks too late, sadly ) and I could have reused the the old Jaguar Pump assy(sturdier than the Spectra) with your new E2226 pump motor.****!Luckly I did not trow away the original old pump .I will buy this E-226 and install it on the original Jag Pump .Just in case. Never underestimate American Ingenuity! Thanks from a grateful Yankee.

Good to hear my post/video is saving fellow Jag owners money! Quick update: I've put about 1,500 miles on the new $10 fuel pump so far, no problems whatsoever.

@Dionne, no guarantees on a 2001 4.0 but my guess is it's the same based on part images I found online. If you try it let us know!

Thanks for the advice.
I just found one on Amazon UK for £10.99 with free delivery.
Much cheaper than equivalents on eBay too!

The pumps are the same for the STR? I know this is a STR Forum but that video isn’t a STR.

The supercharged X202 has two fuel pumps; one on either side of the tank 'saddle'. The pump assemblies are VIN-specific.

2?!
Can this cheap replacement option be done to both?
-My situation as my mechanic says my car is running too rich.. he’s suspecting it can be the pump if not the pump, maybe the fuel regulator or rail region.

It's unlikely the pumps because they are controlled via feedback loops.

If he doesn't know that I'd be worried that he's working on the problem!!

Ok, I’ll let him know. So much likely the fuel rail? Or fuel regulator? When I check my PSI on an OBD scanner it’s 55/56, he’s saying whatever tool he used read 48.. I think he read it from somewhere near the fuel rail

When everyone has a P0174 code, their problems have all been some sort of vacuum leak.. why is he telling me it’s the opposite and it’s running too rich instead of too lean?

What is the fuel pressure? With the ignition in the ON position prior to engaging the starter motor, there should be around 3 bar (300 kPa) of fuel pressure.

What are the LTFTs and STFTs for each bank? If the DTC P0174 is present, the ECM (PCM) it compensating for the additional air present by enriching the mixture.

If he's using the schrader valve on the engine fuel rail, he will get a lower pressure reading.

Has the fuel filter been replaced?
