I wanted Brogue so performance it was, plus liked the looks. Comfortable enough but a little hard to get out of.

I had this same anxiety when I ultimately decided to stick with the Sport Seats but ultimately added the full leather option (versus the base suede). Even after placing/confirming my order I was regretting the decision ... UNTIL.... I actually got the car. The sport seats are TOTALLY fine. While others may disagree, I find that the performance seats are an add on mostly for aesthetics. Someone in my office has the V8 (I have the V6 Base) and he got all the crazy upgrades. Yes, it looks really cool... BUT, I made the same calculation you seem to be making -- once you add the forced packages together, is it worth $4k to have the performance seats? I find that the sport seats are still really nice. In some ways, they are a but understated compared with the Performance seats. I can assure you that anyone that I have shown the car never comments on the look of the seats. The car is amazing with or without the upgraded seats. Make your decision based on your own budget but I am totally happy to have stuck with the Sport Seats.

Default For the taller among us

Hi guys, I have a question of a practical nature related to the seats. I am now in a process of making me happy and buying the F-type. I have driven / had several coupes (BMW M4, Audi A/S5) and always had one thing to take into consideration - my height.

I am 6"5' (or 198 cm). Which is everything except for practical in a daily life... So, as I thought, I do not have much space above head. I am quite brushing the roof with my hairs. I have the seats all the way down. However, I still have some reserve behind the seats - I do not have the seats pushed to the back since I would not have a correct angle of my arms (short arms issue probably . Thus, I am considering reclining the sets backwards. However, I am worried about the safety since the seats won't be fully upright. There will be new slim seats coming with MY 2018, questions:

1) Do you have any information related to the increase of space above the seats coming with the MY 2018 and slim seats.

2) How bad is to have a reclined seats. I will do a test drive anyway. Just, if there is anybody having some experience.

3) Is there any other technical solution like some low-profile seat rails etc.

Thank you for your inputs!

Strange. I'm only 6'1", but found the f-type to be the only car where I've felt the need to raise the seat in order to see over the bonnet. On the test drive(s) this applied to both seat types.

Long legs for my height mind.

Lucky you. Maybe my torso is too tall... I tried both with glass roof / without. Results were the same. However, dealers had not any stock cars with performance seats - they had only sport seats. Could there be any difference?

None of this will matter on new orders now as both "sport" and "performance" seats have been redesigned for 2018MY which will start going into production in a few weeks.

Exactly. The "vertical seam" doesn't exist any longer. And nary a buttock on this forum has sat in either of the new options.

Default Performance seats - painful!

Hey all, I just got a new 2016 F-Type S and it has the performance seats. That piping down the middle is KILLIN me. What can be done to alleviate this? I was thinking sheepskin seat covers, is that still even a thing? How would that work with the seat heaters, would it fry them? The last time I had a sheepskin seat cover in a car it was an OG Honda Civic

The center rib is not an issue for me, but my wife complained about it bitterly when she first got in the car. I got a CONFORMAX Standard Car Seat-Back Gel Cushion for the passenger seat. She loves it and it looks like it was form fit to the F-Type (even though it's a one size fits all).

I gave the seam in mine a rub with leather conditioner a few times when it was new. Actually I dont think it did anything except make me feel like I was doing something about it, but after a few weeks the seam settled down and it is fine. The passenger side took longer because I drive mostly by myself, but that is now fine too.

The conditioner might have helped, so give it a go. But by about 3000km, it is unnoticable and at 8000km I'd forgotten about it until I saw your post. But I agree, it is very painful when the car is new - like a new pair of Doc Marts rubbing on the back of your ankle.
