Default LWB v SWB Seats

I have a 1995 Daimler X300. I rebuilt it a few years ago on an new X308 shell (that’s another story and there is a thread on the X300 forum if you are interested).

I had to fit Jaguar X308 seats in the rear of the car as part of the rebuild because of the different seat belt configuration. I have been on the lookout for X308 Daimler seats ever since.

A set has come up from a LWB car (my car is SWB). I’m fairly sure that the LWB and SWB seats are the same and the only extra length is in the floorpan. Jaguar Parts web site does not differentiate between LWB and SWB for the Daimler seats (except for electric rear which these are not).

So I’m just looking for some confirmation that my conclusions are correct before I make an offer. They are 200 miles away so I want to be confident. Anyone got any input?

Thanks in advance.

I can't give you a conclusive answer, but I don't really see where they could be different.
That said, it is a Jaguar, and they were notorious for (undocumented) production changes.
I have a 1998 LWB VDP with the standard rear seats, ask if you need me to check anything particular.

Thanks Eric. I don't see why Jaguar would make them different either. But as you say it's a Jaguar.

If there were to be any differences I would suspect they would be in the seat cushion size. I measured my current seat. It is 40 cm (give or take a few mm) from where the seat belt buckle plugs in to the front edge of the seat. If you could measure yours when you have a minute and confirm it's the same then I'll be happy.

Man that looks nice. I've said it many times around here, but I think I still like the X308 over my X350. The only thing I'd want to do is properly retrofit the HID projectors into a X308 VDP.

I measured, and the seat cushion size is the same (~40 cm).

Had a look around, but really cant think of any other differences then perhaps the head rests and its rails (but I presume they come with the new seats), and the closing direction of the third seat belt.

I just snapped a pic of mine, just in case.

Thanks again Eric.

Your car looks great. They are the exact seats that I have seen for sale and seeing yours along with the confirmation of size has convinced me to make an offer for them.

i'm confused -- Are you looking for another rear seat.

We did not get the long wheelbase car in the USA until the 1996 model year. I'm also not sure if it came out with the other 1996 cars or if it was a bit late. The 1995 x300 came out in the spring of 1994. The VDP in 1995 had different seats (contoured) in the rear vs the non VDP -- it was built on the short wheel base body as it was the only one Jaguar made. In 1996 Jaguar came out with the LWB car -- it had a bench seat (VDP) and raised roof.

The seats in the x308 are cosmetically changed from the x300 -- The key is the seat track and it's mounting points. I would be surprised if Jaguar changed the front seat mounts.

My X300 VDB's interior was far superior to my 1998 VDP.

Are those floor lights original?

Those lights are pretty awesome, aren't they? Are those standard for VDPs?

I added these lights front and back.

A car like a x308, at least for a Daimler or VDP should have had them, but they didn't. I think most other, earlier or later, Jaguar models had them standard.

Using normal bulbs, it gives a very nice, additional welcome feeling, one of my better mods.
