What comparable car would you get if you sold your X350?
If you sold your X350, what 'new' 10-y.o. car would you get? Assuming resale value $6000 and similar comfort & luxury features.
I think maybe a 10 y.o. Mercedes S550 or Lexus LS460

Another Jaguar.
Another Jaguar. The S550 and LS460 lack the beauty and grace of the X358 and earlier Jag saloons, and while they may be better in some ways, IMHO the overall balance and driving experience in the Jaguar is far superior.
Cheers,
Don
Here in the US another Jaguar.
Just spent 3 plus weeks in Eastbourne, UK. Where I will end up living some time in the future. There I would buy an Audi A6, supercharged.
Traffic was unbelievably bad along with speed cameras everywhere.

I'll echo the others, another Jaguar. The others are a bit bland for my taste. Jaguars are far and few between on the road, and I like that exclusivity. Plus, every time I drive or ride in another car (doesn't matter what it is), I'm always quite disappointed.
Don't laugh... but I will highly consider Lincoln LS or MKZ. I love their interiors, quiet cabins, and low running costs.
If I want full size luxury sedan; then I would look at Audi A8 over S Class or Lexus.

Those who know the back roads in the UK understand my concern. Also the habit of parking both sides of the roads in urban areas.

considering the cars that were out 10 years ago, I would do another Jag or I would get an Audi A8.
Ive driven a 2007 S550, they look great on the outside in silver with the AMG body kit, i even considered getting an S63 at one point, but i cant get over the interior. too bland for me.
Never was a fan of Lexus, and I wasnt excited about the 7 Series of that time.

For looks, handling and performance, I had the SV8 while my wife had the Mercedes S-Class. The only thing she didn't like about her car over mine was that it sat a little lower to the ground and it was longer, so she wouldn't drive it (not that I'd have let her).
Both her and I would say the Jag was a superior ride. She was in fact a little ticked about it considering what we spent on hers vs. mine.
BTW, MB has the same suspension problems as Jag, though maybe not quite as common.
But having said that, Daimler really hit the skids on Quality starting in 08/09. I wouldn't touch an MB from a decade ago.
For style, I echo others, Jaguar. On reliability overall, I would consider Lexus.
So in the end Wolfy, I did what you're asking and went with the XK. 1 inch lower to the ground, a couple feet shorter. Though it doesn't have air suspension, the ride is still far smoother than my wife's Cadillac. Quieter than her Cadillac too. Far fewer XK problems from 07 - 09 than the X350/358. In 2010, they went to direct inject (nothing wrong with that) but the 5.0 engines have a know water pump issue that just can't seem to be resolved by JLR.

I've just taken on another X350, having traded-in my previous one. I need four seats as I take my mother out quite frequently.
When I don't need four seats, I would think of a 2006-on XK Convertible

I have a XJR and an A8 now. Wife has a 335i convertible. Wife loves her BMW. My Audi was modified by previous owner so it not a fair comparison to XJR.
The XJR is easily the best looking of the three. The XJR has had the most issues.
The XJR air suspension issues, the bushings and control arms, and soft ride would make me lean toward another A8.
