I have never messed with wheel spacers before. I will getting the front set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires tomorrow. I had the rear set installed two days ago and they are awesome. I am running 275/35/19 in the back, which gives the car a really beautiful, aggressive stance.

However, to my eye, the front tires sit way to far inside the wheel well at the current size (245/40/19). So, I ordered the largest size that will fit the front. I will be running on 265/35/19's in the front. I wanted to get the 40 series profiles, but Michelin is not making 40 series in this tire size. I will have to live with a slight forward rake.

I am hesitant to get spacers to push the wheel out a bit more because of the stress they put on the rotors and other attached components.

Will post pics when the fronts are installed tomorrow.

Assume 19 " stock wheels has a width of 9.5" ? Anyone put a wider tires than 275/35/19 on stock 19 " wheels?

 

 

I am pretty sure you can fit up to 305's on the 9.5" wheels. The F Type guys would know for sure, but they wont let me play over in their sandbox since I don't have an F Type.

My wheels are from the F Type, so they come staggered (9.5" rears, and 8.5" fronts). The largest tire I could fit on the front was the 265 width. I just think that it still looks recessed in the wheel well. What do you think?

 

I think 305s on 9.5" wheels is really pushing it.
Most tyre fitters say that the max you should go on 9.5" wheels is 275, maybe 285.
The stock XFR rear tyres (20") are 285 on 10" wheels and the stock 20" F-Type rear tyres are 295 on 10.5" wheels. Plenty here have fitted 20" 305 rear tyres to the 10.5" F-Type rear wheels, but I've never heard of anyone fitting 305s on 19x9.5" rims.
I wouldn't do it if I were you!

 

I do not believe that larger tires is the best solution, and I would not go that route.
I would use spacers, although the difference between 8.5" and 9.5" is a sizeable difference to adjust to. I would try 15mm spacers to see how they look. I doubt that they can overly stress components

 

Looks great I am sure the spacers up front will help to give a wider stance/look. When you get a chance, can you pl post a picture from the back to see overall stance?

Well...the largest possible tires are on the front, so that ship has sailed. I am amazed that 1" of offset is so pronounced! What issues can happen with adding the spacers? Well, I don't want to see premature wear on the linkage components. Mostly worried about the bushings, but I have heard that the stress on the lug bolts can be significant as well, plus the number of turns on the lug nuts is reduced so that can cause issues with the wheel not being torqued to the correct specs.

 

 

You have valid concerns, and although I am not totally versed re spacers on XF, I can assure you that it is common practice to use spacers on Porsches. It is required to use lengthened lug bolts however. I think your car looks great just the way it is, but your options to widen the front stance are limited. You could discuss the use of spacers with a reputable shop, buy wheels with less offset, or enjoy the way it is.

 

I had 15 mm spacers on the front wheels of my XFR with no problems at all.
It really improved the looks and stance, and didn't effect handling, cornering or tyre wear at all.
I didn't need any spacers on the rear due to the bigger offset on the Coventry Whitley rear wheels.
15 mm spacers will be "perfect" for your XF, both front and rear.
Shop around eBay, AliExpress and elsewhere and you should be able to find them in sets of two or four.

 

JUST A side note cherry.....i would add some clear guard to the lower skirt in front of the rear wheels...mine are out about like yours and ive just noticed some road damage in that area as its taking hits from everything coming up off the tire
