Default Security System Wiring

Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the security system for an '88 XJ40? I've been wiring an aftermarket door remote system and need to connect the wires to flash the lights. The only way seems to be to run individual wires to each of the four signal lights in order to bypass the lighting failure modules.Does anyone know of another way to tap into this? Wire color/location would help. It seems they are all controlled thru the lamp failure modules.

Try splicing into the hazard light switch on the dash (the red triangle switch)

Great question. I was all geared up to refer you to the "HOW TO . . ." Sticky but found that the former link to fabulous resources died many moons ago and even the unassailable riches of one of our generous gurus, Gus, at JagRepair.com is almost devoid of anything other than TSBs.

Having started a foray into acquiring XJ40s at both ends of the spectrum, I need to go a long way further than Haynes manuals etc - especially wiring diagrams that vary significantly from early (digital dash) to late (traditional instruments). Suggest you turn to the 'Bay and seek out a DVD based solution. I am doing so here today and expect to pay $10 just as I have for all other models. Typically thousands of pages, some have the EPC and full range of wiring diags.

Cheers and best wishes,

Ken

Default Security system

Hello, maybe the system on the 1993 xj40 is similar?

Not quite sure if it'll help with my '88 since it seems my car didn't have a security system installed but I'll have to dig around and see if the wiring is there. I just need to find a circuit to tap into so I can get my aftermarket door opening system to flash the lights. It seems everything goes through the light failure modules and that's where the signal comes from.
