How do you know the emblem is black and not red?

There are also two Jaguar emblems, one that is the same as the original one and another. I want the emblem the same as the original. The second picture.

The one I provided a link to is the OEM black emblem. In Europe, you can get it here:

I was at my Jaguar dealer today and wanted to pick up the black emblem. To my surprise, this was the emblem which I did not want. On request, the dealer told me that there is only this emblem in black. Also the part number fits.
But the cat does not fit, since there are two different. The OEM red emblem of the R is apparently not in black.

I recently purchased the OEM red emblem for my P7 grill install.

So...how is this different than the one you were looking for? Wrong size?

The black one was never put on the R, but I would have thought they were all the same size.

The top one looks female while the bottom looks male.

Maybe I missed it on another thread but did you order your P7 grill directly from the dealership? And if so, did you have to provide a random P7 VIN or will they just sell the grill to anyone?

The grill & surround are restricted parts! Jaguar will not release them to dealers without a genuine VIN & proof of ownership.

So...I'm still not certain what the problem is. The Jaguars don't look exactly the same? That said, the bottom one is more aesthetically pleasing, but at anything north of 25mph, no one will see the difference.

That's right, most will not recognize it when you drive. But I recognize it every day when I go into the car and drive ...
And the second emblem just looks better. But if the OEM is not in black then you can do nothing.

The one with the P7 Grill is not the right thread. Still, I can say I've used a P7 VIN. With the VIN, two other Jaguar dealers had moved me a bit further away from my city also the parts ordered. The reason is, I think, the VIN and the part numbers. If one has both the dealer's discretion.

I ordered it from an outfit in Germany using a P7 VIN before JLR got suspicious and started clamping down.

I must admit I think without any checking that the lowered ear Growler looks more traditional and authentic. The raised ear version strikes me as more domestic. Now if you put on the ***** eared version will you lose points in a judging.
