Flat Bottom Steering Wheel
Hi,
Just about to buy a 2015 V6S has loads of options but not the wheel.
Wish to retro fit this I guess this has been done by other members?
I guess heated wheel wouldn't work as this purchase doesn't have that option too.
UK
Thanks for any help.

You never know... it might. Sometimes its cheaper to put the wiring in and just leave out the button. The BMW 1 series had all the wiring, electronics, and light bulbs installed for rear fog lights, but didn't come with the button. All you had to do was buy a $20 headlight switch and boom... rear fog lights. Considering the heated steering wheel is activated with a button on the steering wheel itself, it may very well work. Not to get your hopes up!
Should be a simple swap over, just gotta find a wheel. We can help you with the instructions i'm sure.

If I'm not mistaken, I don't even think the SVR has the flat bottom steering wheel. Wonder why.

My S has flat bottom heated steering wheel. I actually use heated option more than I expected - heated seats and heated steering wheel allows me to take top down in 12C or so without feeling too cold.
That flatbottom wheel is not very useful during tight high-speed driving. I like the looks, but I find it annoying when I'm trying to grab it in tight slalom.
If it's any use I fitted and SVR wheel to my MY14 S. The SVR wheel has heating, but my S did not and clearly is not wired for it either, missing the appropriate heavy duty cable to feed it.
I ended up having to retrofit my S buttons and loom into the SVR wheel as nothing worked, leaving heated wheel to contemplate as a future project
My guess is at a minimum I'll need a new slip ring to carry power up the column, so will likely be too much effort

Unless you are very advanced level, dont mess with anything to do with airbags yourself, both because you can seriously injure yourself if you set it off while working on it, and because if you dont get the reinstall right it might not operate properly in an accident.

Disconnect battery, wait 15 mins. Unclip and remove the connectors
if it's not correclty reconnected the airbag light will be on so obvious it's not correct.
I've removed dozens off times on many cars without issue and know of no one on the many forums I frequent who's done worse than trip the light and needed to reset it.
