Default Purge valve solenoid,code p0447

I got code P0447 and sure enough the purge valve solenoid is rusted out and the circuit is open. This being said, with the circuit open will this cause the engine to run rough at idle and sputter when under load? Also, the gas milage is only 22.5 per gallon highway and 20.0 combined.

Anyone know where I can buy the solenoid (Jag ref # C2S8605) at a reasonable price? Here in Eastern Canada the Jag Dealer wants $179.00 plus the usual 15% sales tax. Allways get better deals State side. Thanks in advance!! 2002 x-type, 2.5

update for the above: I replaced the purge valve solenoid from a 2005 Mustang GT 4.6 li. It's identical for $125.00 at the Ford Dealer. Gas milage went from 22.5 to 27 mpg highway. This did not cause the sputtering.

The sputtering issue: I removed the spark plugs, again (as you know is a pain because the manilfold has to be removed) and 5 out of 6 plugs were burning perfect, (light grey) and one plug was brown. Longer story short it was the coil pack. I replaced it now the little Jag runs like a Champ. Now getting max. 35.4 mpg highway.
