Guys,

Going through my 'new' 94 XJS. How many positions do the rear courtesy lights have?

I get them to go on with the door open and with the dash switch. Can't seem to get them on manually with doors closed.

Which position should activate this?

If your car is the same as pre facelifts in this respect, you have a second switch on the lower dash that activates the rear lights.

 

The earlier facelift and pre facelift had the glass 2 way position lights. pos. 1 was on and pos 2 was door. The newer facelifts had the same light as in the trunk and dash and l believe has no way except for the door or interior light switch to operate. Convertibles anyway.
