66 bucks a year! Not much in grand scheme of things, but big difference over the 21 a year i will now be paying for my antique tag!!

Sad to see ALO 5EXY go but with daughter going i to high school, i have to save wherever i can, probably losing yard service too, but shes worth it all!!

Florida car owners are getting ripped off!! if it's not the cost of vanity plates, it's the tolls, it's one big ripoff!

not to mention those ugly antique car plates!

 

you only collect vanity plates? I have a bunch regular plates from Tennessee and other states.

Florida Tolls! Ha. The Verrazano Bridge is 15$ to cross and just $10.66 if you have EZ-pass. Personally... as I travel around to do my work, daily parking and tolls can add up to sometimes as much as 200$. Of course I pass those cost on to the customer when I'm working but when I travel to do family stuff, it bites.

As for the plate, I dont collect generally but that one pictured here piqued my interest as I have a female friend in Germany who does collect USA plates.

 

that's another Florida ripoff, the fact that you have to return the license plate that you paid for.

so in reality, you are RENTING the license plates from the State of Florida, the same scam as the cable companies do with their cable tv boxes.

 

you are getting off cheap, in my neighbouring State they charge $100-$500 per year for vanity plates depending on style/content

 

Nix has personalized plates and she likes them a Lot!

We sort of consider the cost as part of ownership of the car; sort of like any other customization I might want to put on. This one merely costs a little more (she's worth it!).

It consists of letters and numbers carefully chosen to look European, and I folded as much of the bottom as possible, making it even more narrow and thus looks longer.

One fella suggested I also fold the top, which would Really make it look European, but the Law requires the name CALIFORNIA must be plainly visible.

 

There is a valid reason for turning in old plates. There are folks that have registration issues. Just slap on an old one and at least not attract the cop's attention.


When I was a kid, we swapped on valid plates to other critters. Temporary usually.


And, folks steal the little renewal stickers or the whole shebang.


My brother sent me a picture of folks in out former town with the plates in the car. Displayed on the package shelf. Theft deterrent!!!!


So, yeah, removing plates that are not valid from the "market place' is valid


Not to mention, a one time use in crime get away car.

Cable converters and modems. Rented, to be sure. But, as I understand it. One can buy one's own. Installation, only if one is so talented.
I've a few old modems laying around. Why" durned if I know.


When I switched providers I did turn in the olds cable box for a new one.
Only a bit of a pain.
