We're pretty active in the FType & XE Sections, but I have some interesting stuff to post here. We were recently contacted by a performance shop about ECU Tuning for an XJ 5.0 Supercharged. Was a pre-2014 car so Denso ECU Equipped.
The customer had purchased sport cats, and they were running software from another tuner which was unable to resolve some CEL's related to the sport cat installation. Not emissions-off but some more integrated stuff.
Since we make 200 cell downpipes for these we do have software set up to work with them. We shipped the company a couple of our VTech ECU Tuning modules and they were successfully able to resolve the warning lights with our software, picking up an additional 6WHP and 22WTQ gains over and above the tuning software they were running previously.
Total gains with supercharger pulley & tune fitted on VAP software were:
+60WHP
+64WTQ
These gains will apply exactly the same on any pre-2014 Denso Equipped 5.0L Supercharged engine, so Range Rover, XFR, XKR all the same.
And from MaxRPM Motorsports (great shop if any of you are in the Pacific NW)
"The client is quite happy with the car’s driveability and gains from this revision. He says it is much smoother and overall a better driving experience than the other tuner’s file. Thanks for the work on this one!"
I have a non-supercharged 5.0 from 2011 running the 200 cell cats that pop the P420-esque codes. What kind of gains could I expect from the tune in addition to getting rid of the CEL?
I have a 2016 5.0 supercharged motor with a pulley from Mina. Will this flash still work with the Mina pulley?
On a 2016 you have the Bosch MED17.8.3 ECU. The product we send out (the flashing tool) is the same for all the Jag tunes. However, on the Bosch you will get substantially more power increase.
On these we are seeing around 620/625BHP with pulley & tune. It will feel like you swapped in a bigger engine.

I bought my 2013 XJ 5.0L SC (470HP) used. It's CPO, and was a corporate lease turn-in that was sold and serviced by that Jaguar dealer. How can I determine if the previous owner did a tune/pulley?
If you can measure the diameter in mm (top of rib to top of rib) of the supercharger pulley I can tell you if that is stock. For the software, if you purchased a tune and read the file off the ECU we would be able to tell you from looking at the file if it had been tuned. Corporate lease turn-ins are rarely tuned though!

So is this flash good to use the mina Pulley. I'd rather not have to install another pulley. Will the software tune work the same and correctly with a deferent pulley?

The ECU Tune will get you to 416BHP, addition of a crank pulley (bolt-on) will get you to 450BHP.
There are 2 3.0 SC engines used in F-Type: 340PS and 380PS. I think you are referring to the 380PS and mine (the one in 2013 XJ) is 340PS. If so, is there any major difference in tuning? And what is the base number and tuned number for 340PS?

Thanks.
I'm referring to yours. Both the 340 & 380PS engines are exactly the same, just the 340 is software limited. So the final output is the same regardless of the starting point.

+70HP increase sounds very tempting. Let me find out if I can do that within the service contract.
