Same track, similar conditions, but this still isn't a great representation. With the tune I started getting wheel spin on the track, and had fuel dump to cool the cats at high RPM which slowed down my times. I put one step colder plugs in afterwards and am going to lower air pressure with these tires until I can get some new ones and try again. The 11.39 run was the only clean run out of 4, and I really need more runs to get a better idea of how fast this is. I expect to get into the 11.2s with this setup, but my trap speed wasn't where I had hoped it would be, probably due to the fuel dump at the top end.

Something else to consider is that there's a guy on here who supposedly ran an 11.3x on a stock R AWD, so my car is far from impressive to begin with.
What tires are you running with? PZero, Michelin P4S, Continentals?

Stock P Zeros; thus my problem. They've really dropped off in grip as they've worn.

I can barely put down the power I have now, that would make things worse for sure. In addition to that I do have concerns about the open deck design of the cylinders. I'm afraid pushing 700+ horsepower might crack a cylinder wall and require a full engine build to handle that power reliably. The reward hasn't been there for me to do it yet. In addition to not being able to go back to stock with the upper pulley. I like that option where I'm at right now.

I have been considering the 200 cell cats, but only from the perspective that they would help with my fuel dump issue to cool the cats during WOT... but what I haven't figured out is if the car actually physically measure cat temp or if it's a calculated value based on load, time, etc. If it's a calculated value the cats won't help at all.

Do you really think that going with both pulleys will result in 700+ hp?

No, but lets not focus so much on the numbers.... numbers are arbitrary. I'm already upping the boost several PSI. If we start pushing the boost up even further, i'm not confident the block can handle that. Without doing a whole bunch of math with information I don't have, i can't know anything for sure until multiple people start blowing motors. This is just how I feel based on my engineering background.

On a Subaru i'd be comfortable pushing the limits, but not on a motor in the 5 figure range. I'll let someone else play with that fire for now.

Just added to the site - now in stock. We're finding that maybe 1/10 people who are fitting the crank pulley to the V8 SC Jags & Range Rovers are getting occasional misfire codes. Some are higher mileage vehicles that have old plugs, coil packs & clogged injectors and that have both upper & lower pulleys. The others seem to be in hotter environments like the Middle East, Texas etc.

These plugs are 1 heat range cooler than stock. The general rule of thumb is 1 heat stage for 100BHP gained so a crank pulley & tune on a V8R passes that sniff test. We're recommending gapping at .036, for this level of charged pressure.

I run these, no issues here!

Stuart,
Can you put a similar plug set together for the V6?

I have a feeling the stock V6S plugs are good enough, they are already heat range 7 whereas the the V8 stock plugs are heat range 6. Going up one heat range again on the V6S plug to heat range 8 could be overkill. Stock V6S plugs are NGK 93476 SILZKAR7E8S, JLR part number C2Z28434.
I already have a set of six new stock ones ready to go in at the 3 year service due mid-Jan 2018, and my dastardly plan is to buy and fit the larger crank pulley and associated tune around about the same time, so then I can report back on any problems with the stock plugs.

I know I may be in the minority asking this, but do you plan analyzing the tune of the new V6 400 when that comes out to see what Jag did to get the extra 20 HP? I may feel better getting a tune that's slightly even more safe than the VAP tune at the expense of the 16 extra HP.

That's something that we did a little while ago - also when building our tuning it's useful to look at what's done between the 340 & 380 BHP versions. It is primarily torque driver demand increases.

So would you say there's any safety benefit of getting just a V6 400 (395bhp) tune instead of the full 416bhp tune?

I suppose there is some, but it is pretty marginal. We're running these engines with the crank pulleys at 450BHP with zero issues across many vehicles.

Considering the JLR will consider your vehicle 'tuned' even if it is just the 400 version settings you might as well go whole hog.

At least that's the way I see it!

Good point. If I decide to save a ton of money I could get a 2015 V6 base and then add your full tune, then get an aftermarket warranty once the factory one is up and still end up with a great bargain. Decisions, decisions.

I am still waiting to get my next hp/tq fix after the crank pulley install. The upper sc pulley continues to mock me from the table, whispering sweet nothings in my ear so that I install him and enjoy the next performance high that awaits. So tempted but the whole it's not a reversible upgrade keeps at bay, for the meantime.
