i have a 2002 x type sport 3.0 5spd. I want to replace my clutch, pressure plate, slave and flywheel with the 2005 revised clutch c2s49289 and I'm looking for info. I need to know which flywheel and slave are compatible and any other parts needed, bolts etc. I'll be sure to do a write up if one doesn't exist. any info about the swap would be appreciated, thanks.

got it. just looking for info on weather or not the newer clutch really works on a 2002. have you done the swap?

 

I have an '06, so no I've not. There are many more qualified people here to advise you as to if you can fit later model to yours. My knee jerk answer would be I highly doubt it.

 

You should be able find out about parts compatibility by looking up the parts for both
years to see if the parts numbers are the same.

I did that actually & they are not, hence my statement of I doubt it. But hey, in my youth we blended a lot of cars that you would assume would never work.

 

they use the same slave cylinder and flywheel as my model, so i can't see why it wouldn't work. either way, got the clutch kit, flywheel and slave cylinder coming to dealer tomorrow. just shy of $1000, another wanted over $1600. we'll see after this weekend.

 

here is my write up. do not try to replace the clutch on this car without dropping the engine, trans, and t case together as the jtis is 1900 pages of lies. leave yourself more than 10 days to do so. and if you buy the newer 2005 clutch find out if the splines match up, as I still do not know.
on a side note i just drove it 2100 miles between 85 and 115 mph and it was awesome and didn't burn a drop of oil. good car, but clutch replacement sucks big time.
also only use impact on rear subframe bolts because the captive nut in body will break welds and spin.
