This product probably existed since the sixties, but I just discovered it today. You simply screw it into your sagging XJS headliner and it is a few inches higher up out of the way. Works better than spray adhesive. It doesn't make it look like new but definitely better than a sagging headliner blowing in your face.

I just got new tires and a new cooling system, so a new headliner is not in the budget.

 

I bought like 1000 pins for €2 and that Held my XJ8 headliner up.

Just pull the headliner and go to your local fabric store for material and put on a new one.

I'm getting pretty tired of headliners, I may experiment with flocking or something next time i need to do one.

 

Spraying adhesive doesn't work because the headliner has deteriorated. There is a thin foam that is glued to the fabric and then glue holds the foam to the headliner board.

When headliner fails, the foam typically breaks down and comes apart, so now amount of adhesive will make it look right, plus it usually won't stick because all the loose foam particles take up the glue.

Don't forget all these tack devices damage your headliner board somewhat. Good for a temp fix but thats it.

 

So far my best solution to the problem is a sliding ragtop. That would eliminate most of the headliner. :-)

 

What is that monster? An autoshow example? Why does it have half euro lights and that weird front bumper?

I wonder if one side has wire wheels.

There are 2 places I know of that sells new headliners already covered, only thing is if you're in the States its expensive as far as shipping for the places are in the UK
