Replaced the other 4 spark plugs. Correct gap for the 4.0 Supercharged X306 was 1.02mm We made it 1.05mm as we did not have a 0.02mm feeler guage.
Still waiting on the new rear brakes (green stuff) and the new polybush set, front anti-roll bar links and some other assorted stuff.
prepared,"powerflex",control arm
metal sleeve bushings for later installation, used 2000 grit pad, then 4000 grit,to make the surface even smoother, hopefully this will aid in no squeaks... bottom...before,top....after,i used a c-clamp to hold sleeve...
I replaced both destroyed front springs. It was awful good thing i didn't have to pay someone (the one on the left is the replacement, the opposite springs is burnt toast as well.)
Sorry to see it go, hopefully to a new home that appreciates it!
Didn't know it was for sale, too bad. The 5 speed would be fun.
It went to me! It's been a great car, but it started having some surging issues (irrelevant of RPM) and there was a fuel smell in the cabin. So, I replaced the fuel pressure regulator, which eliminated the fuel smell in the cabin, but the surging remains. Hoping that the CTS that I ordered will fix that. I've also replaced one of the trunk struts and a friend helped me install X308 headlights, which now need adjusting!
I need to buy new springs for my 1996 VandenPlas (XJ6). Can you kindly share the source. Thanks
Hi, yes, good old "British Parts UK" I have finished installing all the new stuff at the front of the car but it's still on axle stands at the mo as I'm doing some other little maintenance jobs, but hope to have her sitting on the ground in the new year, good luck with your project and happy Xmas to you.
Had the alternator and ac belts replaced, along with the valve cover gasket. I had tried to tighten the alternator belt myself which usually eliminates the squealing, but the nut was frozen even after I sprayed it and let it sit for awhile. So, as it was 20F yesterday, I gave up and let my local do it

Heh, must be "the season"
I've got my XJR up on ramps for the last week to replace my OEM alternator. I guess one can't complain too much that it lasted 21 years!
Of course if I'm replacing the alternator, might as well replace its belt, and since it is the rear belt, may as well replace the A/C compressor and SC belt too right?
But with the holidays and some intermittent rain and cold, it's been up on ramps waiting to be finished.
Good news is that the hard part is already done, which was figuring out how to get the alternator out, which turns out to be quite heavy to hold with one hand overhead!
The plan is to get it all reassembled by this weekend.
New Year’s Eve - didn’t do much to the car.
Just a spot of wash, polish and wax, and changed the XJR’s sparking plugs from Champion RC12YC to a cooler 9YC at Andy’s suggestion. 4 of the 6 plugs needed gapping to .035" as they were much narrower out of the box. the other two were already right.
.(2 mins later)... well my photo post went well... guess that happens when you’re down under!

Thanks. I will get this done some time before summer this year.
Put new tires on today, bought at Tire Rack which is close to me. Went with 235-50-17 BF Goodrich Force C2 all season that were rated 2nd. in that category. Old tires from previous owner were 245-45-17, decided to go for a little more comfort.
