Firstly, thanks FR500GT for all you help, i know you're on it, you can probably describe the process better here,
Answers to this problem of removing the rear cover trim to gain access to the antenna, want it off to wrap the piece it is on and the antenna itself, changing from red to black, Well found these pictures of a used boot , it is easy to see everything on it ,in one picture i have showing the 2 red circles and 2 yellow circles, the 2 red are only where the wiring enters the boot. The 2 yellow are the only screws i see, the antenna screws are under it, i know the antenna screws off , 2 nuts holding it on, maybe if these circled screws are out it pulls down, don't know , anyway sure it might help. The first picture you can see the white antenna on the part i want to wrap. Any help welcome
This is interesting. The antenna on my car is black, not color coded to the car.
Same here. I have a IRR with the Pano lid and the antenna is also black so it messes with the black roof. Any chance you might not have the pano roof which might be why yours may have been color matched?
Hey Powerhouse, the plastic tab is actually just outside of what you have circled in red on the very edge of the hatch. There is a plastic tab about 5" in length that pops out revealing the two nuts that need to be removed via socket wrench. Once you remove those nuts, you can remove that whole panel from the hatch and at that point you will have access to removing the antenna from there.
I think the base model and fixed roofs all come with color matched antennas from the factory.
FR500GT thanks for that, so things i've circled in yellow are nothing to do with the removal, is there clips further down, how is the bottom part held on if whole thing comes off or is it just the top part comes off.
Taking apart anything on this car seems to be a mystery and painful. I've had other modern cars practically gutted for stereo equipment, and yet everything in the Jag, even the simplest task, seems tricky...
I don't have the panoramic roof, so the antenna matches the car paint.
So got this from jag dealer, if anyone ever wants to know,
FR500GT , no mention of the tabs just nuts, well here's the how to part, and a picture of the antenna base
