Thanks for bringing this one back to life! We need more people like you who care about the linage, and want to keep these rolling works of art alive and on the road.

Someone over in Texarkana had not changed the oil for the last 38000 miles and it smoked like crazy as the Breathing Filters in the Cam Covers and all the Drain-holes in the Heads were stopped-up with gunk! A sad shame to say the lest but an opportunity to rebuild!

Started with the Heads....took them to Joe in Tomball and he Ported and cleaned up the Valves and Guides and set everything up, including taking .025 off the Heads to make it 9.5X1 Compression Ratio! The Combustion Chambers and Valve Tops and the Piston Tops were Ceramic Coated by Poly-Dyn here in Houston....The entire rotating assembly was Balanced and reinstalled along with a much larger bottom Pulley and much smaller Pulley on the Supercharger shaft.

In addition, the ECU was reprogramed by Phil at Eurotek Designs in New York. Then, the Larger water to air intercooler and Larger water pump was installed to keep the load cool....and about a year ago, I installed a Snow Water/Methanol Injector system to introduce that cooling mixture into the Throttle Body......Now Snow has come-up with an additive called Nitro-Booster that you mix in with the Water/Methanol. It's suppose to increase your HP a bunch......

I'm going to Dyno the Coupe soon and get 3 readings: (1) Just the Engine, (2) With the Water/Methanol and (3) with the Nitro-Booster added......should be interesting!

Of course all of this is meaningless compared to Kenny Bell Screw-type Supercharger set-up that creates 600 or more HP on the XKR Engine.

You were talking about Hot-Rodding at age 77.....What about 81?

Billy, please video the Dino test for us, especially the “launch” when you do the nitrous. Tom :-). How high do you expect it to fly?

Smile Thomas L. How high do you want it to fly?

Tom,

Phil at Eurotex Designs had a Chart on his old Website that gave the HP & Torque figures after he had tuned the ECU and placed the Big & Little Pulleys on an 05 XKR....As I recall the HP went from 390 to 425 and the Torque went from 410 to 445 or so......That may not be exact as it doesn't show the XKR on his new Web-Site......I expect today with the larger Water to Air Inter-Cooler it would gain at least 10HP and with Mr.Snow's Water/Methanol injector system, another 15 to 20HP and I don't even want to guess at the increase when the Nitro-Booster mix hits the system.....I don't know if Kenny will let me shoot the Dyno runs but at least I know I will get copies of the print-outs to attach on the Forum.

Recently, I finished reworking the Exhaust System. I had changed the Manifolds to XJR's sometime ago as they come out the back at 45 degrees to reduce the angle and run down through new Magnaflow 200 Cell Cats and then the 21/2" Pipes go into the new 2 in 2 out Magnaflow Performance Muffler that has an X pipe built inside...then all of this picked-up by the rear of my old QuickSilver system.....Not real loud and seems to rumble just right! I think it's the X pipe that does it!

I'll keep you posted!

Just out of curiosity, was this very nice picture taken in the Houston Resevoir? It is interesting how many of the active members on the forum have the coupe rather than the convertible roadster. When the E type first came out, the only one I would have considered (if my wife would have let me buy it) was the coupe. I presently prefer the convertible, but the coupe is growing on me when I see your car and some of the others. Tom :-)

Question The Park that's a Reservoir!

ThomasL,

You are correct! This Photo was taken in August, prior to the Hurricane Harvey...Where I am parked was under over 15' of water during the Rainstorm. Up close to the Treetops....

Tom, they made 1 Coupe for every 8 or 9 Convertibles...Only 9,746 XKR Coupes were ever made Worldwide.....They are a Classic now and will become more expense soon! The last one was made in the Spring of 2005...That's about 13 years ago now and that number is decreasing rapidly as the current value ($14,000.) makes it too easy for the Insurance Companies to Total them! It doesn't take much damage for the Parts and Labor to add up to $12,000.....and that is a Total!!! I lost my 2003 XKR 5 years ago with a little front-end and side damage when the Lady came across 3 Lanes of Traffic to hit me.....That's why I have the 2005 now! Only 669 XKR Coupes were made in the 2005 - 2006 XKR Coupe's Body style....meaning with the new Nose-Piece and Rocker Panels.

I've noticed several 2005-6 XKR Coupes recently on the internet for $24,000 up to $29,000. for a "Victory Edition"! So, they are beginning to increase in value.....Get one, You'll love it!

Billy,
The problem I had, well, first, I just wanted the convertible!!!! :-) Anyway the problem that I have is that when I sit in the seat, my head brushes the "hood" even with the seat all the way down. However the coupes are sharp, no matter what. It is the style that my son prefers, though he is more of a corvette fan than a Jag fan (hard as I tried). I am in Indiana for summers and Florida in the winter. Maybe, with some good timing we will meet somewhere, I'd like that. Tom :-)

I agree, Red is the best, but then, I’m a little biased. Tom :-)

Hello, MidnghtOwl;

A buddy of mine just bought a mid-'80s 911. A very nice running car. It looks, or looked like it had been sitting outside for a year or two. He took a Scotchbright pad and washed the car with it. Went all over the car. Now it looks like somebody spent $10.000.00 on one of them 'matt' white colored paint-jobs. Pretty Cool, I thought. And costed about 35 cents.

Keen on seeing a photo of the finish if you can arrange. Not that I would do that to my Jag but keen all the same.

This would be the highly scrubbed 911 at John Wallkers' Workshop in Seattle. John has more things going than one eye can take in.

A couple of other 'PRO-jects' John has going.

However, this would be Johns' specialty. The Worlds' Foremost Authority on Air-cooled 911s. Or damn near.

You should have both--sun doesn't shine everyday.
