Doesn't look my my OEM cap and I do believe that these XJs are not E85 compatible. Plus my cap has a tether but you are in California and who knows?

My 2012 5.0l supercharged says 10% ethanol max if you absolutely have no choice and premium only. My GM's always said you could use mid grade with reduced performance when the knock sensor goes off. There was no ethanol at the time they were made I don't think.

As far as the color, I don't know, it came with a full tank and it's still at half.

The filler door sticker is in English and French. Canadian car, perhaps?

+1, nor is any Jag approved to run on E85. Correct fuel is 91 octane AKI.

Owner's manual for my SS specifically says not to use gasoline with more than 15% ethanol content.

But does it say "E85/Gasoline"? Not for a diesel.

No mine just says Diesel, I thought the original poster was expressing his surprise at seeing a "yellow" cap as opposed to a black one.

I wasn't personally aware Jag had any E85 offerings, but here's a government website that suggests there might be a flex-fuel version of the XJ referred to as "XJ FFV":
https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/35229.shtml

And here's a link offering XJ 5.0SC FFV used replacement engines:
https://www.buyusedengine.com/used_e...%208th%20digit)

Nothing mentioned on Jag's US website. Perhaps some California dealers are special ordering the FFV version.

For gasoline cars, yellow cap usually means it can use e85. (well at least in CA)

So yeah in a way I was surprise the XJ can take e85 from the factory... Not that I will ever use e85.

Just picked up a 2014 XJL, has the yellow cap and specifies High Test Gasoline or E85. It is the 3.0L supercharged V6.

I'll have to double-check, but I do recall seeing the term "Flex-Fuel" on my CarFax reports or somewhere.

If I want corn alcohol I'll either drink Tito's or moonshine, but my baby will never see it!
