I found some chrome door handle "covers" on eBay for $30. My XJ6's door handles are faded and I think chrome would really help tie the look together with the other chrome accents. I could theoretically replace the whole assembly but I don't have the money or time for that.

Anybody ever bought something like this? It's important that they don't fall off in the AZ desert heat and look pretty uniform.

Are they plastic or metal?

 

According to the eBay seller's description, they are plastic painted to look like chrome.

 

Chromed plastic would be advisable, especially in AZ. The door handles on the early models (like mine) are metal and they will burn your fingers in the summertime. Very uncouth! Same with the inner metal handles if they have been in the sun, right Deckwith? I'd say give em a try!

 

I'm not familiar with how they work but I imagine they just "snap" on. If so, a little double sided tape might not go astray.
