I had only 1 key for my xj8 1998 3.2 Ltr

and it has been lost / miss placed
do I go to a local jag shop or have to go to the UK to get another and the remote
help pls

 

There are quite a few competent locksmiths out there that can make a key for you. The easiest but most costly is take your proof of ownership with the VIN on it and they can cut a key and program a remote.
You can buy remotes used on line and easily program them to your car. The instructions are available here on the forum and a search will provide all of the steps.
Do your self a favor and get 2 keys made.
