Walt, are you talking about #2 in this illustration? The little bracket that keep the seat cushion in position? This is a Series III illustration but I'm guessing Ser II is the same)
The illustration shows the bracket thingy in a vertical orientation. In use, it is horizontal. The little lip on one end engages the seat frame. The thingy then is positioned below the tubing of the seat frame so that the screw hole faces forward. Then a screw goes thru the front of the seat cushion and into the thingy.
Hopes this helps; a little hard to explain. Maybe somebody has a pic!
Hi Doug!
Yes its number #2 bracket which has a screw that mounts on the front rail but the other
end which is curved, its looks like it has to go through a slot to hold the front seat down.
When I took it off, the bracket fell out so I never got a chance to notice what was
holding it in place.
Here are some more pics if it does anything for you.
the bracket hooks in the metal pan on the seat on one side and screws into the outer edge of the seat on the other.
When in place, this "traps" the bottom metal seat frame between the bracket and keeps the cushion from lifting off.
Jose's illustration is just like my car. The first time I took mine apart it fell out just like happened to you and it took me quite a while to figure it out. But once you get the hang of it you will be able to take it out and put it back in about 15 seconds.
