Broke valve cover breather
Yesterday I was doing a tune-up replacing the spark plugs, pcv and gaskets. Everything was going good until I noticed that the valve cover breather pipe had a crack in it. This is a very thin brittle plastic and the part has been updated so I figured best to remove and replace instead of temporally patching it. When removing the pipe one of the 4 teeth that hold it in is missing.
When I was removing it I did hear a crack but again the whole thing was really brittle. So I'm not sure if I broke it off when removing it or if it was already missing.
There appears to be a catch pan under the vent opening on the valve cover however I cannot find or feel the piece of plastic that broke off.
If anyone has had there right hand valve cover off is there a catch pan or run off that would prevent this from getting in the cam? Or am I looking at removing the valve cover to retrieve this piece?
If anyone has the rear valve cover off or one lying around and could post some close up pics of the catch under the vent opening that would be great!
I don't want this little piece of plastic to cause major damage. Any help is appreciated.

Just wanted to post this incase anyone in the future runs into this although I can see that it shouldn't be very common. But if someone needs it here it is.
There is a nice catch plate under the opening for the rear side valve cover. I just finished removing it and finding the plastic tooth stuck in it. I still don't know if I would recommend just trusting this plate or not though.

I'll add something here after almost 5 years since this thread was started.
Leaving the cam covers in place, if you have the upper intake manifold removed you would see this vent tube . I think in removing this vent tube, you are sure to break off a couple of the plastic teeth that hold it in. If you didn't know better you'd think they'd have fallen into the motor where the cams and lifters are, yikes!
However, with that catch plate, the broken pieces wouldn't go far. One could use a pair of tweezers to pull out the teeth and then install a new vent tube.

Good Morning all,
While doing my valve cover seals on the right side, I noticed that the plastic hose had a semi-spiral crack at the bend.
Can I have some options to fix this, please??. Is there any possibility that this section can be separated and replaced with a rubber hose or can I use some plastic weld??? (I have already invested a lot; I don't want to break the bank)...
Thank you very much
