Default SC Intercooler Removal

Has anyone on the forum removed the SC intercooler from the top of the engine yet? I 'm getting ready to install the polished one and am wondering if there are any issues to keep an eye out for.

I actually have a 16,000 page pdf shop manual consisting primarily of hieroglyphics, cartoon sequences and graphical misrepresentations. I was hoping to get some experiential insight.

Disconnecting water, vacuum, fuel and electrical lines.
Looking square into the jaws of the devil. That SC screw looks vicious.

Unhingd, while you are in there can you have a look at the intake valves? Curious to know what kind of buildup has accumulated over your mileage.

I presume you bought a 2nd hand one so you could carry on driving your car?

That is correct. I now have my original SC IC safely in the storage attic.

So what does a spare SC IC cost and where would one get one?

If you had a V6, I would work something out with you on my original SC IC leaving me with yours at the end of the day. However, since you have a V8, you'd have to start the ball rolling with a spare purchase. The part# is AJ813796 which supercedes part# AJ812986. They usually go for $350-$500 on eBay. Set up a search alert. New, they cost about $1200.

I was wondering the same thing. I saw a cutaway once, but that was at the Drive Alive event, so almost five years ago.
