XJR Exhaust manifold
I have a nasty leak on one of my exhaust manifold.
I havent realy found out wich one it is but im pretty sure of it. The blow is realy bad when engine is cold and gets better when heated up. I also get the occational check engine light whith codes pointing the fuel mixture..
My question for all of you guys here are.
Are the manifold the same for all X308 cars or are they different for NA and supercharged engines??
I´m planning to coat the new ones before fitting should help a little with engine comparmen temperaure have anyone don this before??
And the last question. How much of a pain n the as is the replacement of the manifolds. I am a mechanic and have worked at a jaguar workshop but i never did this job and it was a while ago so i´m just a bit cureus

As far as I know all 308 have the same exhaust manifold, but you need to make sure if you have EGR as then you will have that connection on the righthand bank not all 308 cars did have this. The leak could also come from the EGR pipe itself if you have one.
drop the prop, g'box cross, engine mounts, rad hoses, and lift the engine up to fit new manifolds. If your getting codes the O2 sensors are ok. Has the car got an EGR valve? Year?
You can wrap/coat them, but remember Jaguar designed the engine for rapid warm up. You could see high fuel consumption running rich until up to temp.

Thanks for the answers.
Realy dont know if the car has en EGR it´s an 01 XJR modell sold new in Sweden.
Having a har tme checking it now aswell as the car sits in a garage for the winter and th garage is realy full and my car i s way in the back...
I´m thinking that the biggest possibikty is that only US and Japan spec cars have the EGR but i still dont know..
Ahhh sounds like a pain in the *** to shift them.. But it will probably be OK do i realy need to drain the coolant and remove the hose??
Recently changed the coolant and added waterwetter

Hi there this is how fast a car mechanic works on their own car....
To begin with tha car has got an EGR. But the leak was from a cracked manifold on the right hand side.
The crack got realy bad this weak so i just got to change it... Was ashamed to drive the car
FYI didn\t need to drop the engine or enythings else for that matter. Of curse some bolts were a pain to get tho but not that difficult.
The manifolds i got were with out EGR but the shape of it was the same so i just drilled some holes and made some thread in them adn now i'm all GO

Thank your lucky stars that it wasn't an X350- the X350 has a different manifold for the supercharged variant vs the NA. The NA split log design (better for tuning and low speed torque on a Naturally aspirated application) was too restrictive. In the end we got Westcast to manufacture a new design for the AJ33 S/C however this still wasn't as free breathing as the older AJ27 design. If I ever get around to designing/fabricating a new manifold for the AJ27 S/C I hope it will incorporate the tuning benefits of the AJ33 N/A and the low restriction of the old AJ27. It will be difficult with the limited packaging space availiable
