Default Word of warning on replacement Windscreens

You can imagine the horror when my beloved X Type had a stone fly up and hit the screen putting a crack in it about 4 inches long.
But my insurance covers windscreens and does not effect my no claims to my relief. So a quick phone call and the guy turned up to replace it the day after, What service i hear you say, Whats this guys gripeing on about?
Well just before he started work he started to unwrap the new screen and i noticed something that he didnt, the screen was not the heated one that my X type has got. So i pointed it out to him and we have made another appointment to fit the right one.
If you look at the screen close up you will see if it is heated because it has very fine fillements in it like litttle zig zags all over it.
So please make sure you are present when they fit your replacement screen to make sure you have the right one because they bring the unheated as a default if you dont tell them.

Good advice thanks. The heated windshield is the coolest (... ;-) thing on
my X-Type! No more scraping frost off on those cold mornings. Love it, love it, love it.

Yep, good advice there Jack me Lad

Had one of those on my trusty ole Ford Mondeo ( around 6 of them all told actually! ) and it was the mutts nutts
As stated, no more scraping frost on icy mornings etc, turn the car on and a minute or so later BAM....Gone!

I have to add though that I believe Ford has a patent out on this feature hence why you don't see it on any other cars.....noce I can think of??
I'll be glad when this runs out as I believe most manufacturers will add it as std then.

It makes me happy that the mutts nutts in the Queen's English are a positive thing.

I'm not sure "Queens English" is always applicable or appreciated in Jim's part of the world? Might get you in trouble with the wrong geezer...

Getting back to the windscreen, I had mine replaced a few months back & the guys who did it were really switched on.

Bloke called up & asked; Heated, yes or no? Rain Sensor, yes or no? VIN please, just to be sure.

I already mentioned in another post, that when the screen arrived it apparently had no window for the rain sensor, there's a black plastic film that covers the window, this needs to be scraped off, leaving a nice round window.

Mutts Nuts, Dogs Bollocks, Hounds Rounds, whatever you call it, it's good mate!
