Hi Frank,

Whereabouts in the DC area? I could give you a couple of leads in VA (Falls Church, McLean and surrounding areas). Don't know about DC or MD though.

Frank, if you are wanting to learn something about your car, come on down to my place. I'm sure we can get you hooked up. Not sure what all they are recommending (probably spark plugs, oil change, differential fluid change, air filter). I can do all that in my driveway. I'm south of you in Norfolk.

cars dont need tune ups these days.
They need maintenance. What are they proposing to do for 900 bucks?
Remember the minimum maintenance is in the owners manual. But additional work can be good. There are plenty of preventative measures you can take to prolong the life of the car.
I think that the issue it to figure out what work is the right for your situation, before even finding a place to do it.

Intersport
1524 Spring Hill Rd Unit H
McLean VA
703-242-8680

I used them before and fairly reasonable. They also have a shuttle if you are within a few miles of them.

Foreign Car Service
501 Bashford Lane
Alexandria, VA
703-549-4100

Haven't used them

Eurasian Service Center
8501-B Tyco Rd
McLean VA
703-893-3045

They do work on Jags, but I think Intersport is better.

There is a place specializing in Jaguars on Route 29 about a mile or so east of Gallows Road, but I don't remember the name off-hand. If you are in the area, you can stop and check it out.

Hey Thermo,
I live in the DC area too. I'm having issues with my 2005 S-type. I work on it myself however, I think I'm over my head this time. I would love to learn about my car and have this problem fixed. Can you help?

Help anyone?

Thanks, Frank
Frank,
Were you able to find anyone? I too am in need of a mechanic in the DC area. Preferably one that doesn't have issues with women that work on their own cars.

I highly recommend English Auto in Odenton Md. These guys have years of Jag. dealer experience and now have their own place.

JGirl, what is going on with your S-TYpe? I will then tell you if I think I can help you out or not. The other thing that I need to tell you is that I have moved since this post started, but it is in your favor. I now live about an hour south of you in Southern Maryland (down near California MD, or near Pax Naval Air Station). So, that should make things easier for you. We can then take things from there.
