Repair/Mechanics' Manuals
Hey All,
I'm interested in learning more about the inner-workings of my car. Companies like Bentley and Haynes offer 'mechanics manuals' to teach owners how to make repairs to (or just learn more about) their cars. I've been able to find manuls for just about EVERY make and model out there EXCEPT Jaguar.
Does anybody know if such manuals exist for the X-Type? Or does Jaguar make it a point to keep suchinformation 'secret' so we have to go back to their dealers forany and all issues? The only Jaguar guides I've been able to find were for older, pre-1988, models: http://www.bentleypublishers.com/jaguar/index.htm
I'd be reluctant to make 'mods' or repairs, in the future, to my X without knowing more about it.
Spanks...

Haynes have been restricted by Jag on producing repair manuals on the X type.I asked them 2 year sago and they said the car had to be 7 or 10 years old I cant remember.If yours is an early pre 2004? petrol X type get the JTIS off ebay or download info from http://www.jaguartechinfo.com/extjagprod/market.jspfor a small fee.

Lol..........I reckon you'll find a way round it if you haven't already Buck...........I think you 're quite resourceful when you put you're mind to it

From the "stickies" at the top of this forum you should see resources to get a lot of repair manuals, electrical guides, OBD code diagnostics, etc. I suggest this link as a great start.
I believe alldata.com and others also have complete or mostly complete technical manuals, exactly as Jag techs use, for a subscription fee.

Greetings Happilute,
Perhaps I live in a parallel universe with my 2006 3.0L X-Type as I purchased from that bay in the clouds . . .
If so, ya got me!
Cheers and best wishes,

- CD version (3,500 or so pages plus all wiring diagrams) - priced at about AU$10 (or about 3L of diesel);
- a Haynes printed book format manual (which I don't rate highly - too superficial, no pinpoint tests) - can't recall price, but not worth buying;
- booklet, Essential Buyer's Guide to the Jaguar X-Type (2001 - 2009) by Nigel Thorley - excellent book for all owners, not just pre-purchase.
If so, ya got me!
Cheers and best wishes,
