I just purchased a 2001 XK8 and it’s funny what I am learning about this process. This is my first Jaguar. It seems that it’s best to buy one that has had three or four previous owners which seems to be typical. Because of this, all of the major things that go bad have been fixed by those owners at least once. I hope now that with me only driving it a few thousand miles a year, I will be able to enjoy it without a major repair. I know there are still a lot of things could go wrong but at they have been whittled down to minor stuff.
I sold my XK8 in 2014, right after I bought my 2010 XKR. The XK8 looked much sleeker, but it was too little headroom for me. Normal driving had me looking out the top eight inches of the windscreen.
It sure was pretty though.
Best of luck with yours. My only problem was a leaking AC line that was "easily" repaired by Not Me.

when I first started my search I wanted the X100 xkr convertible for those lines and the airplane wing inspired dash shape.
But same problem. Long torso 6’3. I was staring over the windshield.
