Key Fob Replacement for 2007 Jaguar XK
With your 2007 you need to choose a fob based on your VIN. Part way through the model year the fob technology changed (IIRC, from single frequency to dual frequency), so if you get the wrong type, it won’t work with your car.
Search this forum, you’ll find the VIN split so you can get the right type.

Even if you get the correct type of Smartkey (single channel or multi channel) and it works to unlock/lock your doors/trunk, it still might not work in the center console emergency slot. If that happens, you could have a problem.

The Jaguar X150 Smartkey is a diabolical digital vault that was designed to stop car thieves who could use an inexpensive "black box" to quickly and easily clone a key and drive the car away.
That key must also be able to be accepted by the emergency slot in the center console and automatically eject when pressed down.

I recently checked with my local dealership about purchasing a keyfob as a backup and they mentioned that I would be better off just hanging on to the 1 that I have, because there's a good chance that when programming a new keyfob that it could potentially cause an issue with the car's electronics which would render it undrivable. The reason why that happens was over my head, but has anyone else heard that and if so is there a way to explain it so that my simple mind can understand? haha
I think what your running into is the fact that Jaguar has abandoned all their customers and no longer wants to work on your car. I am surprised they even talked to you! Many reports of a 10 year limit. Any car older than that sorry charlie no service!
I hope your NOT running with only 1 key? That will bite you badly in the future. Every car needs 2 operating FOBS/Keys.
Yes adding and removing keys can be dangerous but it's done every day.
If you want to find out more do some searches as there a many, many threads on this. So get some knowledge and background on the problem.
Can you DIY any repairs? Things get expensive real quick if you can't.

Mine is a 2011 XK coupe (35k miles), which I purchased in February and only came with 1 keyfob. The dealership mentioned that programming a new keyfob for any XK's come with that same risk, so was curious just how risky it was. I don't do any DIY repairs, but there is a good Jag mechanic about 45 mins away that I used to use a few years ago before I sold my 2009 XK so I will have him do any repairs/maintenance. The dealership is just a few minutes away though so figured I would pop in to ask them about the keyfob a few weeks ago. I'll search the forum here on different posts/viewpoints of the keyfob programming risk. Thanks!
Yes..they were the correct ones..
Dealer had one in stock and set me up..
It's a crapshoot!
My car came with one key and the dealership verbal quote was very expensive to purchase and program the key in-house.
I purchased one from Remotes & Keys. They have OEM and Aftermarket options depending on how much you wish to spend.
I had mine programmed by an independent shop (who outsourced the programming) for about $120.

If you just mean a replacement fob with all the keys and want to transfer the electronics from your existing key, you can easily buy the case online and transfer the circuit board and metal key from the old fob to the new one.
If you buy carefully, the new fob will be better quality than the original Jaguar one. The new fob might also have a simpler one-piece design for the circuit board support so you can discard the secondary support plate which is clipped to the original circuit board as you don't need it. You just need to carefully separate the two with a small screwdriver or similar. It is just a press fit, there is no adhesive involved.
The swap over from old to new fob case will take less than 2 minutes.
