Joys of owning Jaguars
Hi everyone, new to this forum but not to Jaguars, I'm semi retired now at 67 and live down by the seaside in Poole Dorset, beautiful part of the Country.
In my time I've built, raced, restored, driven, owned and had a garage /workshop that bought, sold, and serviced many of the vehicles on this forum at some stage or another, I've had my fair share of wonderful classic Jaguars in my time and I have been very lucky
to own some beautiful more modern Jaguars along the way, I sold my garage and the land that went with it some years ago as I got pretty sick back in 2017 and was in and out of hospital, I'm good now ( or as good as I'll ever be after what I went through ) but life is for living and I still get a buzz and great joy out of looking after and working on these vehicles, even if my abilities AND my facilities are now greatly curtailed from what they once were..
A close childhood friend of mine has owned a beautiful late 2008 (58 plate ) XJ358 Sovereign for nearly 10 years, he looked after it religiously and only put around 4,000 miles on it in all that time, at just 82,000 miles, a Full Service History, and never failing an MOT in its entire life, it was a no brainer when he asked if I wanted to purchase it as he no longer uses it (he's a big chap and getting in and out was proving difficult ) I didn't need it, probably wouldn't use it that much either, and with all the children grown up and fled the nest we didn't need a large four seater Executive Car ? but when did that ever stop me from buying one !
As mentioned in another thread on here, it has just developed the infamous "Park Brake Fault" message and permanent Yellow Parking Brake Light with exclamation mark on the dashboard, but as always, where there is a will, there is a way ..........
The next, and maybe final addition, is my hunt for a totally original and Low Owner, Low Mileage, XJC from circa 1977 / 1978, I am very Colour & Spec Specific, so my choices are limited, but its out there somewhere, they always are if you are patient and look hard enough .......
Well that's about it for now, I hope you are all enjoying your Jaguars, their glory days may be fast evaporating, but as a Marque they will always hold a special place for those that appreciate all the pleasure they have provided over many many decades of Innovation, made all the more possible by having great Forums such as this,
the very Best to all of us
